    N-Gage good/bad?

I got one of these a couple of months back.. Have been playing it a little but so far im 50/50 on selling it or not. Looking at the price I could probably get rid of it and put the money towards a PSP (when they come out) or something..

Although I got a loan of fifa the other day and am now between minds as its not bad. Is it worth keeping as a handheld Games console???? Anyone want to give me advice?

i wouldn't bother. let's be honest, it's not an integrated device (removing the sodding battery just to change game?!?!?!), it's the games console and phone people having a fight & nobody winning.

perhaps when nokia decide to prioritise & maybe listen to gamers (rather than trying to infect them with a dirty propaganda campaign they would have had a viable platform.

throw it in a drawer along with a tiger game.com and sega multi-mega. or sell it. either way, it's a failed machine.

    phone quality..... poor.
    screen quality..... poor.
    games quality..... poor.
Having to buy special "thin" nokia Secure Digital cards instead of the cheaper normal ones...... POOR!

the only good thing is being able to watch video on there using RealOne Media player and having Mp3s as your ringtones. Both of which you can do on smaller, more functional phones like the new Orange SPVe200.

Bunji bit harsh, but alot of true things said.

I disagree that the screen is poor - Its medium.
Games are actually decent (well 1 of 8 games or so) SonicN and Pandemonium are my faves.

Phone quality meh... your right... And those thin cards... your right.
Was it not the first phone with RealOne? 1st Gen usually sucks...

Sounds like you answered your own question tbh..

Basically it was a bodge, it tries to do too many things and ends up not really doing any of them very well, if you want decent games and a superb phone then you'd be better off getting something like a T630 and a Gameboy Advance SP.

My Nokia 3300 0wnz it. It's smaller, and does what its designed to properly (playing mp3's being the main thing.)

It took a 256MB Kingmax MMC with no fuss at all.

The N-Gage tries to be too many things and can't do any of them properly. It's a good idea, but this time round Nokia didn't get it right.

Yeah people seem to love the 3300

Thanks for the advice, I might wait for the n-gage 2 though before I buy another phone... Its rumored to be decent...

    I'll defend the NGage

I bought one after getting bored of my Panasonic GD87e camera phone.

Its the best phone I've ever bought, Symbian OS based so you can download loads of apps for it (msn, yahoo, icq, aol messengers anyone?).

I bought a 256MB MMC for mine from ebuyer and it works perfect, overall a top phone just got to get some bluetooth kit for it.

The ngage 2 should be mega, I do agree that some of the games are pretty pants but they're good enough for the train/bus/messing about - when im at home im on the pc.

Its a shame they marketed it as a games machine when it can do so much more, they should have emphasised the mp3, radio, apps functions as well as games.

Saw them at ECTS, wasn't impressed. Holding to the side talk on?

Only one thing I love about it. Bluetooth always on visible to all

Bluejacking the nokia stand was fun. Well for me at least

it was a bodge, completly. I've tested it to bits at work (when got nothing better to do) and I hated it. The bluetooth was slower than that of my T610 and the screen IS lower quality than my T610 (seriously).

Tbh if you are looking for a handheld games platform the GBA is by far superior, more wide spread etc.
