    Best PC Gaming?

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering what you guys think are the best games to have/get for a new computer?

    Currently Have/
    Half Life 2
    Counter Strikes
    Team Fortress 2
    Oblivion
    Call of Duty 2
    Supreme Commander
    Dawn of War
Command and Conquer Generals & ZeroHour
    Far Cry
    UT2004
Company Of Heroes : Opposing Fronts

    Buying/
    Call of Duty 4
    Crysis
Command and Conquer - Tiberium Wars
    Spore
    Unreal Tournament 3
    Sins of a Solar Empire

Any other games worth buying? Would Baldurs Gate II be too old? I really want to get a game that involves space-travel and or mining, colonising, something like Sid Meyers Pirates meets EVE. lol

SOASE looks AMAZING! I love it, definatley getting it!

    Cheers Mith

Also still getting UT3 as I have already played it, and I used to tourney on FPS games so I kinda have to

Also, I saw ET(Q3 not wolfenstein ^_^ hehe) recently, didn't like the Xbox demo but I was wondering what its like on the PC?

Already getting Fable 2 and Fallout 3 on XBOX 360 anyhoo :-) Wasn't going to get RA3 till it comes down in price cause I'm on a limited budget.

    Re: Best PC Gaming?

Also, will all these work on 64Bit Vista with Q6600?

I also have a few other old/random games around I'll be trying out (Grim Fandango, Broken Sword 3+4/ too many to mention lol) Will these be ok?

Any finally, does installing games slow down the startup and standard running of a computer? I'm looking at installing over 20 games on my gaming rig. How much would this affect it? (Assuming 640GB WD AAKS drive partitioned into 160GB main drive with everything installed and defragmented etc)

No racing games? GRID is pretty decent. If you like FPS then Bioshock should be on your list.

    Re: Best PC Gaming?

I'm terrible at racing games, the only one I play is trackmania really and it'll be a while until I fork out for it as I don't play it that much. I've never been into the whole driving thing, not without steering wheel and pedals anyhow and never been able to afford a good set. Also, not enough pain involved I think for my liking

Bioshock on the other hand is something I just didn't get into, the demo really turned me off and didnt bother after that. Is it really any good?

Installing games won't affect your systems start up time, atleast I've never had that problem, a game could have a service that starts when you turn your PC on (1 game I installed had an anti-cheat sort of program that launched on start up), but on a new PC you don't really have anything to worry about.

Vista 64Bit should be fine aswell, I built a PC for a friend and all his games / programs / hardware worked fine. Vista 64Bit can run 32Bit software fine but some hardware can cause problems.

Good choice of games UT, Call of Duty 4 and Command and Conquer - Tiberium Wars are all on my to get list for the PC, I'd also recommend GRID but I'm not a Crysis fan.

    Re: Best PC Gaming?

baldur's gate 2 may be old but it's still one of the best rpgs around, the same can be said of grim fandango (in fact i bought it recently so i could play it!). on the subject of old but great rpgs, fallout 1 and 2 are also very good (quite alot of ppl are eagerly awaiting fallout 3, why not start at the beginning...) mass effect is also good, reminds me alot of knights of the old republic which were both pretty good esp. the first one.

also can reccommend vampire masquerade:boodlines, a game that i think was under rated when it came out. it was quite buggy, but the storyline and interaction with npcs were excellent. official support for the game hasn't been around for ages but the online community made it playable through unofficial patches, so definitely worth a go now

Medal of Honor: Airborne? The Painkiller series? The Serious Sam series? Code of Honour 2? ArmA: Combat Operations?

You'll find some older FPS mentioned in this article, which are still worth considering

Couldn't hurt to get Mass Effect. Or Civilzation 4 (you can get the complete version with both expansions for a tenner). Or you could push the boat out and get a copy of Alpha Centauri

    Re: Best PC Gaming?

Make sure you 'defrag' your hard disk after installing all the games.

Also, Sins of a Solar Empire is just an RTS. It kind of does have mining and stuff but it's for an RTS game not for a trading/space exploration type game. If you wanted the latter, you could get "Space Rangers 2", or if you want a more hardcore first/third person space trading/combat/exploration game with modern graphics and stuff, there is a game called X3: Reunion which is one of the best. But not easy to get in to, so I preferred Space Rangers 2 which is simpler and quicker to play.

Also if your graphics card is really good, the new Stalker game (Clear Sky) seems great. I have played it for a few hours on a top of the line PC and it was really great.
