My mate has Test Drive Unlimited for the PC. I have it on XBox 360.
Can I add him and cruise about with him or not? If I can, how would I go about this? (adding him as a friend etc)
Thanks in advance.
Nope, they are separate servers.

fresh install and dont use no-cd cracks :|
ok the game is freshly installed but why cant i use the crack it still doesnt work it comes up with
there is a new test drive unlimited available you need this update to play online do you want to download now.
and the patch is on too.
because the patch removes part of the executable file (the secuROM or whatever copy protection system it uses)
the discussion of noCD cracks is not allowed on HEXUS as it can get the site into alot of trouble....
as the whole purpose of a noCD crack is to circumvent the copyprotection which then allows the user to run witout a CD, and noCD cracks are generally associated with warez which is also not allowed to be discussed...
but to solve your problem, re-install the game, do NOT use a noCD crack, install the relevant patches, and play the game by placing the cd in the disc tray...
as to why the noCD crack doesn't work, it's because the games executable file is updated to a different file when the patch is installed...... therefore the noCD crack may be invalid for the new file... but in short... just use it without a crack... noCD cracks are illegal...
ok sorry i have installed the game and no crack but it now comes up with
Failed to connect with gamespy server. please check your network status and try again.
but my internet is running fine the game has no crack now and is a clean installation please please help solve this problem as i really want to play online.
Thanks please reply soon
right... it actually is trying to connect now... check your firewall, (i.e. disable it and see if you can connect) if you can then you need to configure the firewall to allow the ports that gamespy uses, or allow gamespy
thanks your really helping ok how do i disable my firewall because i can turn off auto updates but theres no button saying i disable my firewall also i dont know how to open my ports so please continue helping you've almost got it fixed thanks
what OS are you using, and what firewall are you using?
if vista then you will no doubt be using windows firewall (or another that you have installed)
disabling the firewall may not work (contrary to what i said)
to open ports on windows firewall:
click: start - control panel - windows firewall - change settings - exceptions
now...
click add port...
and add all of the following ports as TCP
If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings, Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:
* 6667 (IRC)
* 3783 (Voice Chat Port)
* 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
* 28900 (Master Server List Request)
* 29900 (GP Connection Manager)
* 29901 (GP Search Manager)
* 13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
* 6515 (Dplay UDP)
* 6500 (Query Port)
also, what router do you have (if you connect to the internet via a router) as you may need to setup port forward within the router, as a few routers hardware firewalls may block the incoming connection...

hi i done what you said
i added them in the order you gave but they were not in that order after i finished they were mixed around also you said enter them all TCP even the ones that say UDP in the title because you said enter them all TCP i have windows xp pro i put my specs somewere near the top of the forum and i have windows firewall i think the one that came with Xp do i turn off firewall or not thanks please reply
erm, try it with the firewall enabled first, and see if it lets you get into the game
those ports were copied off gamespys website and it was that, that stated to put them as TCP cos i was dubious aswell...
also, it doesn't matter what order they are in...
ok it just keeps saying that it was
failed to connect to gamespy server. please check your connection
is there anything else we can try? please please help Quick
after having a look around, it seems to be a common problem....
some people solve it by trying to reinstall the patch again (patch 166A) and it says allready installed, but then when they try to connect it lets them...
aslo, make sure that your not patching the game while it is running...
don't use the ingame patching system!
get the patch from HERE
and reboot your computer before applying the patch
Kalniel should be able to help you better when he's around cos hes a mod over on atari
Yeah and I'd probably have banned this guy for using a crack
Cracks seriously mess up the online portion of TDU, we've even had to go so far as recommend some people re-install windows just because it's easier to do that than to clean up the remains to get the game working.
If you go to the Atari EU forums and look at the PC tech section for TDU you'll find a sticky that tells you how to do a clean (and safe) uninstall and re-install of the game. The patch location might have changed, so use the link TAKTAK provides.
Once installed and patched, making sure to use the original DVD only, create a new profile and fill in the gamespy details (if you don't do this the profile will be offline and it'll say servers unavailable). Then when you start the game there's a short tutorial section that you have to go through before you get onto the online part proper and it'll say the servers are available.
As far as firewalls/routers are concerned, there's a list of ports you need open at the Atari forums again, or you can look at sites like portforward that'll include guides specific to your router. Asside from the usual ports, the main problems are with the SPI portion of firewalls (which can sometimes block peer to peer type traffic) and with routers setup to use symetric NAT by default - changing to cone NAT will improve your connection.
