Best bet would be look in the trade ins section in your local independant or look at the auction sites. Play have it but it is highly collectible now and highly priced.

Looks like you are going to be paying a bit for this one

Re: Look at you now Hacker.....

I've been trying for ages now (http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-gaming...ml#post1353493) to get it working on my system without any luck None of the fixes, tweaks or patches seem to be able to get it going for me, I even installed Ubuntu to give Wine a go.

Re: Look at you now Hacker.....

Was origionally released in 1999 so nearly ten years old.

Salazaar, try the fixes me and hexeh have put up. Works great even under vista. Main problem with it is installation and the dual core processor causes the dark engine to intermittently crash.

Bumping this awesome thread as it seems to have dried up a bit.

I'm still stuck in the cargo bays at the min. Keep getting mullied by the big yellow robot. Damn, I really don't remember it being this tough!

Thouroughly enjoyable game though, has me pretty much hooked, can't get that much play in at the min though as moving house tommorow.

I'm not sure how to give advice but I was just a little bit careful... there are ways to NOT fight them but it takes a little maneuvering...

If you choose to fight however, its bloody tough..

I'm also stuck, but in operations, been a whole day now.. virtually impossible to take out all assasin cyborgs..

the yellow robots back way and don't attack for about 3 seconds if you club them with the wrench

making wrenching them to death entirely possible

hint: re-bind your keys so you have strafe where you expect, for easier dodging

Firt thing I do is set the left and right keys to strafe. Will try that with the robots, try and conserve a bit of ammo and wear on my weapons for later in the game. The cutscene when you enter the cargo bays was really creepy and freaked me out a bit!

What exactly is happening Salaazar? Is it not loading up, constantly crashing, can't install it?

Let us know and see if we can work it out so you can get onto the ship!

Re: Look at you now Hacker.....

Off the top of my head, it installs fine, it'll load up the first cut scene the first time round. Once it gets to the loading screen after the first cut scene it crashes with some graphics related error and every time I start it thereafter it refuses to load at all.

I've tried loading just about every combination of patch and hack I could find, official and unofficial, but none of them seem to affect it.

Re: Look at you now Hacker.....

Try doing the fix for the cutscenes first that I posted up a few replies ago. Mine crashed on the cutscenes also when I started the game. Just before it shows you in the chamber on the Von Braun and the screen goes black for a few seconds it jumped out to windows and I got a popup saying it had stpooed responding. Used the movie fix and it got into the game.

Then after that do the dual core fix that Hexeh and me put together to stop ingame crashes.

Worthwhile giving it a shot, patch it up before doing anything else also, including the Win 2K / XP fix.

Love this game, just finished it again. Marine this time... its one of those games that you keep going back to.

Anyone playing multiplayer? thats a laugh if you have a decent player to play it with, if you don't its frustrating when they just keep setting off all the alarms and moaning when they run out of ammo or their gun breaks.

Re: Look at you now Hacker.....

I've tried all your suggestion plus a few I found else where in varios combinations. It does one of three things depending on the various combinations of fixes, it either crashes as it loads initially, crashes after the first cut scene and after the first proper 'loading' screen with no error message if I use the safe_texture_manager flag or it crashes in the same place with a "Direct 3D device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage" error if not.
