    Best Gaming Mousemat?

Well I would like a mousemat to protect my mouse and desk, and figured if I am going to get one I might as well get a srubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy one.

I'm torn between a FUNC customised Archetype mousemat or a Razor Mantis. Don't know that much about either but just want a good quality mousemat thats good for general use, bit of FPS and RPG gaming and whatever else needs to be thrown at it.

Leaning more towards the FUNC at the moment (especially with the artwork) but was wondering if anyone here had any experiences of good mouse mats.

The Func is $30 and the Razor is $25.

    Cheers!

    Re: Best Gaming Mousemat?

I've had an original Func surface1030 for at least 5 years now and it's still going strong, so I can happily recommend them.

Admittedly the amount of gaming I've done has drastically decreased since I left uni, but it still feels great.

Before that I had a hard mat something similar to an Everglide Giganta (Ratpad/Ratzpad, something like that) and it wore out very quickly (1 year ).

    Re: Best Gaming Mousemat?

Thanks for the replies guys I'll take a quick look at the Icemat as well see how it compares to the Func's.

Just a question though, is it true optical mice work with darker or black surfaces/mousemats?

All I know is the cheap mice dont work at all on a white mat. I really like my qpad and I would also consider a noid pad.

    Re: Best Gaming Mousemat?

Just found this on Scan -

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=701580

Looks good to me, very cheap and the reviews and videos are promising - double sided as well like a Func.

Never got on with cloth that much and that Razor looks ace, but a bit too much for me.

Looking forward to getting my mits on the Cooler Master (it's had alot of praise suprisingly)!

Dan has been reviewing mouse mats for years. He seems to like the CS Hyde high performance woven fabric ones with a durable PTFE (Teflon) coating.
