    PS1 on PC ?

Anyone know of a program that allows you to play PS1 games on the PC ? My drive can read the playstation disk and see the files, so I assume there must be a program out there created for this purpose. Do I just need a PS1 emulator ? Or does anyone know of another program that can do this.

    Thanks

    I assume you're using original PS1 discs?

If so then pretty much any PS1 emu will do the job. As memory serves Bleem was the best one, dunno if you can still get it nowadays.

    /puts on moderator hat.

Everyone, feel free to discuss the in and outs of emulation but NO, and I repeat, NO links for roms etc.

On the lines of my original post now with an original black disk
I have downloaded 'adripsx' v 1.0.5. It starts the disk fine, and i select new game, but once the intro video starts, it plays, but it plays at about 1 frame every 5 seconds. The music plays as well, but it plays at the same rate as the frams, so i get prolonged notes, its sounds really bad. The game is Final Fantasy Seven by the way, if i havn't already said, anyone got any ideas on how to make it work right ? I have tried fiddling with the setting in the emulator, but there are so many, and i haven't had alot of experience with emulators.
Could making an image of the disk then playing that help ? I have a 32x CD reader ? Playstations dont read any faster than that do they ?

    Hows the actual game though?

The video was always a tricky thing as the emu loads up your cpu with work converting the video to a compatible format.

Try a different emulator. Usually the later games need to have an updated version of the emulator of choice so always go for that. Most pages list compatible games for the emu in question, make sure FF7 is on the list.

I've just had a look around and Bleem has now gone commercial, I'm sure there's a few mirrors knocking about that will link to older, free versions though.

Try PSEmu Pro as well, heard good reports about that one.

try www.ngemu.com, you can get ePSXe and plugins from there. Got all that stuff mesself and am playing Final Fantasy Tactics on it, as my aunt has hold of my import-playing PSX. Not perfect, but certainly playable, on my laptop: celeron 1.6, 512Mb RAM, 16Mb GF4 420....

I'm guessing the laptop has enough power, I'm just trying it at too high resolution (gonna try it on video out to me TV when I get a long enough phono cable- at lower resolution...).
    Well Hello!

im trying to get gran tourismo 2 to work, i have bleem (with the thingeh) but it doesnt work giving me errors about not valid exe, i thought this was cos i had win2k, but it happens on my win98 box aswell, it used to work perfectly (w. gran tourismo 1) nbow bleem dosnt start atall, anyideas?

i tryed ePSXe but i found gettign the right plugins very annoying and tireing, cky2k would u b able to email me the plugins please0r

back to FF7, dont know how this works on ePSXe, but on bleem 1.5b it isnt really playable i think (menus dont work), cant rember though, this may b fixed by turning d3d/opengl off in bleem options

in terms of performance my brothers ex-pc which was a p3-500 256mb pc133 +voodoo5500 could run gt perfectly and also cmr i think, but i only remembr cmr with the b1.4 demo which had no sound and dont work on my k6/2 350 box

There used to be an old commercial PSX emu called Virtual Game Station by connectix, tho they were bought out by Sony and shut down...

You could probably find a copy floating round somewhere. IIRC, it didn't make use of the PCs GFX cards so the games looked a bit chunky, but the compatability was OKish...
