Haha, 'Saturn'.
I don't think you need the Saturn on a 'Best Console Of All TIme' poll. Unless you are tryig to find out who is completely insane.![]()
oooh it's a tough one! My choice would be between the SNES and Xbox 360.
The SNES was just a cracking system, and it had some outstanding games - Super Mario Kart being the cream of the crop!
However, I've opted to vote for the 360. It might be the most unreliable console ever made, but it's so much fun to use (when it works) and is arguably the console I've enjoyed most.
My top three would be:
- Xbox 360
- Super Nintendo
- Sega Mega Drive
As the poll states which are my favourites, these aren't necessarily the three best consoles, they're the three that have given me the most enjoyment.![]()
I voted SNES, and Parm, mate, you can not vote for the 360. It doesn't work.
If it did, I might have voted for it myself.
Hex - Not easy, but I reckon you could make a case for the NES, SNES, PS1 and Xbox 360.
I think the NES and PS1 were both very important consoles, but not as much fun as the 360 or SNES. The 360 doesn't work, so SNES.
Thats my simple logic at work, anyway.

how many are real, hand-on-heart must have winners though? mario world and zelda 3 versus mario 64 and zelda 8? popular opinion says mario kart > mario kart 64 (my personal feeling is the reverse), so what else tilts it? chrono trigger, which we never got in the west? would you rank chrono trigger ahead of, say, final fantasy 7?
the dreamcast deserves consideration, for games like rez and jsr - and once rez comes into play, the 360 becomes an even stronger competitor
sorry, but it's not as easy as just saying "snes kkthxbye"
I'm on my 2nd 360, though the elite is running much better than the last one.
I started with the SNES so it gets my vote, though i never could get past level 3 on StarFox
For nostalgia..

Watch out for the space centipede in level two, asteroid belt
ED
Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Zelda: Adventure of Link, Chrono Trigger, Street Fighter II Turbo, Secret of Mana, Super Mario World 2: Yoshis Island, Super Mario All Stars, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy II, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, F-Zero, Super Castlevania IV, the other Donkey Kong Country games, Mega Man series...
I think the SNES has more great games, and a lot of the very best games of all time.
Personally no, but one swallow doesn't make a summer.would you rank chrono trigger ahead of, say, final fantasy 7?
Dreamcast best console ever? Only if Super Mario Kart 64 is better than the SNES classic.the dreamcast deserves consideration, for games like rez and jsr - and once rez comes into play, the 360 becomes an even stronger competitorThe 360 is let down by the hardware. Rez and Jet Set Radio were both great, but it hardly stands shoulder to shoulder with the roll call of games the SNES left behind.
Given that the 360 doesn't work, the Dreamcast doesn't have enough truely great games, the NES whilst brilliant was overshadowed by its big brother, and the PS1 did a lot for the image of games but didn't leave behind that many all time classics... I'd say SNES. Maybe not in a kthxbye way, but after considering the competition.sorry, but it's not as easy as just saying "snes kkthxbye"
I fully expect either the 360 or PS3 to win, because people will just vote for the console they own now, despite the fact the 360 is the only console I can remember that should never of been allowed on sale, and there is no case at all, at the moment at least, for the PS3 being the best console ever.![]()
i voted ps1.
simply because, i lost my social life to gran tourismo and colin mcrae, ISS and LMA.
so many never before seen ideas, on a system with 33mhzprocessing power, absolute marvel.
Gamertag - Russonf (xbox and ps3)
Geez, shockingly hard question!
If I rule out all the ones I've never played, that leaves
Gameboy
Master System
Mega Drive
Dreamcast
PS1
PS2
Xbox 360
I think, that out of all those, either of the early Sega systems were great, for classics like Sonic and Lemmings.
So Mega Drive or Master System then.
I think I'm going to have to go with the Mega Drive, on the basis that I owned more (good) games on that then the Master System
EDIT: Interesting that it's a close run competition... 3 main options so far... over a few generations too...
PS1 was revolutionary. Bit step up in graphics, 8 player games, big games that don't compromise on the graphics (multi cd), awesome controller, games that will probably still be played in 20 years (FF7)
NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SEGA SATURN!!!!
Stewart...you are SO offensive it's unreal.
Sega Rally, Bomberman and TombRaider....I still play them ALL on my Saturn![]()

Get a SNES for your son so when he is old enough he can play a proper console.![]()
I voted PS2, because everyone still has one! It still looks good, still holds peoples attention, still rules many many households. 2 different sizes available, and while I dislike liking Sony, it's gotta still have the biggest back catalogue with PS1 included.
Last week alone ours was used for Guitar Hero 3, GT4, Prince of Persia, Kerushi, Dance Mat and watching a DVD cos the DVD player was unplugged and I couldn't be arsed to reach down the back of the TV to plug it in.
