    Re: Games for a LAN

Depends how many people are at the lan and the specifications of the machines but for low spec machines you could try

Warsow(Great free fps gets even better when you learn the movememnt)
Alien Arena(Also a good free fps quite alot like quake and unreal)
Tremelous(This is also a free open source fps game but is quite alot like the hl2 mod natural selection)
    Hl1 Mods: Counter Strike
    Natural Selection
    Zombie Panic
    Vampire Slayer
    Unreal tourny(Older Versions)
    Armagetron(great little startup game)

    For higher spec

Hl2 Mods: CCS, ZPS, Hidden, PVK II, Dystopia, GoldenEye Source,
    UT3
    Quake 4

There is loads others and i hold lans regularly but there is a start

    Re: Games for a LAN

Company of Heroes is one i've always wanted to try, cos on a LAN it shouldn't be too laggy. Mainly because you can avoid Relics lovely servers.

Crysis? Could be fun just to run around and blow stuff up

    Re: Games for a LAN

Haven't LAN'd in years, but back in the 'old days', my buds and I tended to play Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, Raven Shield, Half-Life, Empire Earth, Rise of Nations, Freelancer, Aliens versus Predator, Unreal Tournament, Medal of Honor, Ruthless.com, and a few others I've forgotten. Man, that was a while back, it feels like...

    Re: Games for a LAN

    Titan Quest
    Diablo II
NWN 1 or 2 (you can play the entire single player campaign cooperatively)
Unreal Tournament - Thievery Mod; its a lot of fun! especially the "crack arrows", its coop; guards vs thieves or thief match (competitive stealing).
    Vampire the Masquerade Redemption
    System Shock 2
Farcry!! - pick this up for £4.99 all over the place at the mo

    ...theres my suggestions.

    Re: Games for a LAN

Our current and past favourites are:

    Batlefield 1942 (+Desert Combat mod)
    UT2004
SWAT 3 (buggy but hilarious, need a mod for >5 players)
SWAT 4 (less buggy, and less fun but still entertaining)
Ghost Recon (awesome AI, never the same mission twice, great if you like sniping)
    Ghost Recon 2 Advanced Warfighter
Farcry ( machete-only deathmatch on the beach is hilarious)
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (Installs in 3 seconds, we operate a hadnicap system where the decency of your car is increased or decreased according to your race finish position, which helps accommodate different levels of skill/drunkeness!)
    TOCA 2
    Worms (for the 5-6am slot)
Armagetron (awesome, plus you can play one-handed to help with input of pizza or beer, the best thing about this game is being able to change your name on the fly for pun-tastic fun)

Rainbow 6 Vegas and Call of Duty 4 are also a lot of fun, as is GRID, but with lots of people they tend to be too taxing for at least somebody.
