I've finally bitten the bullett and put 64 bit Vista Home Premium on my PC (have jad it for ages just never got round to installing it) Just wondering what games will run on it (ideally anyone know of a compatability list ?)

I think pretty much all of the newish ones work
don't think i've had a prob wit any game tbh, i'm running new and old ones...
All the games I've tried so far have worked on 64-bit for me, oldest game i've tried is mechwarrior 4....
here's a few lists for you to have a look at though

I haven't come across anything that needed more than a quick patch.
Thats good to hearDon't want to have to go through all the hassle of re-installing my operating system again

Sniper Elite is the only game I have that doesn't work. All other games I have, including old ones like Age of Empires II (my brother even played Doom II), work fine. Are there any particular games you're interested in?
I was concerened about NFS Carbon when I get that back off a mate, but tit looks applying the 1.4 patch and I'll be fine, also TF2, hoping thats going to work as I really love that game![]()
I can confirm that TF2 works, anything released that recently (almost a year after Vista was I think) should work TBH.![]()

Most games do. Some older RPGs don't without much cajoling and luck (like NWN)
Only thing I found with 64 bit is that it won't let you install older games that have 16bit installers. A lot of the games from Lucasarts fit that profile, you can get hold of an updated installer for Grim Fandango but havn't found one for any of their other games.
Other than that its pretty good, Quake 2 & 3 engine games work great so there are quite a few games there alone. All you can do is try them and if it doesn't work google for updated installers and fixes to get them installed and running.
I installed NWN and ran it no probs at all, I had to install the critical rebuild pack for it though. That was to actually get the 2 expansions working but it also got it running spot on for me.
I've had absolutely no trouble so far with vista home premium x64
Its ran everything i've thrown at it so far, i'm running my old dos games through dosbox and even that runs great

That, or just keep an old copy of Win98 (or even XP around) and make a dual-boot. The XP partition wouldn't need more than a few GBs if its only going to run older games. I'd personally rather do that than fart around with virtualization software. ^_^ Still, your idea is a good one, and virtualization is getting better; I'll likely be on that boat myself in a few years...![]()
