For those of you with Vista and having trouble getting this to work, there's a vid that shows you how to get it working. I think it's for Vista 32bit only though.

love the red alert series but hmm playing the old games again... maybe not.
I used Daemontools to load the ISO, no need to burn to disc. And it plays from there as well. It's old enough that it runs perfectly on my work laptop, which is a plus. I'd forgotten how ropey the in game videos were though.
For vista 64bit use Red Alert Setup Manager v0.98 Worked first time.
Ace old game
beanbandit (04-09-2008),Hicks12 (06-09-2008),Mithrandir (06-09-2008)
I just downloaded it and then looked at my shelf and saw it sitting in my CD rack..
I love the original game though, one of the first games I LANed, along with Duke Nukem 3D
whoops, i downloaded it and forgot to give you credit for it
all sorted now
Awesome! I never played RA1, but I won't turn down a free game. A bit of a shame the other two mentioned disks aren't included as well, but its no big deal. It'll be nice to have a new RTS to keep me occupied; I've played Empire Earth and Rise of Nations to death, and Sins of a Solar Empire needs a bit of a rest...
Any one know of a way to reduce the scroll speed in game? tried the ingame menu but even on the lowest setting it shoots to the edge of the map everytime. Dropping the mouse speed in windows seems to help a little but not really enough.
It works fine for me, so I suspect that your mouse has some software associated with it. Often this software is unneeded - might be worth stopping it loading at boot and see how it goes.
Nope no silly software for the mouse.
Edit: Fixed it. For anyone else who has the issue. Go to the RA install folder and click RASETUP.EXE it will give you some basic options. Enable the back buffer in video memory one.

Thanks for that finally able to play it. Anyone want a game online? it works i just tried it and there were some people on, when u goto internet click no when the popup appears then type in any nickname and password and there you go .
Hey,
Thanks OP for the heads up
I am also getting the ultra-fast scrolling issue. Using a USB OCZ Equalizer (lowest sensitivity), with no additional drivers. Also the game crashes every time I quit (needs a CAD to end the process).
Any ideas on how to sort the mouse out?
Cheers,
Suman
That fixed it for me on vista. Others have reported success with a slowdown emulator, not tried that one myself.
Mine cashes on exit too, I've just been CAD'ing doesn't use much memory so I often have it open all day and just play a few mins at a time or while I'm doing other stuff.
