Racedriver grid demo 1680x1050 not available?

Hi all,

I have recently installed Racedriver Grid demo to evaluate whether I should purchase this game. I am surprised that I cannot select 1680x1050 in the game settings, since this is the native resolution of my monitor.

I read somewhere in the readme that for video cards with < 512MB RAM some resolutions are disabled for performance reasons. However, I am not sure that should be the case with my card, which whilst having a modest 256MB of RAM, is able to keep things really smooth in the game at 1280x960 (highest res available to me in the menus) all settings high and 4xAA. The card in question is a 8800GT 256MB.

My question is whether this ridiculous "nanny" graphics setting can be disabled (for people who can actually choose sensible graphics settings, for example)? Or is this issue just in the demo?

Comments from other 256MB-endowed graphics card owners with this game would be most welcome.

PS - I am actually really enjoying what I have seen of this game, just this annoying niggle making unsure whether to buy it .

Well, I have a 2900gt (256mb ram) and I ran it fine on my system. You might want to update your graphics card driver with the latest drivers if yours are a few months old. Mine is ATI btw, so I've no idea if there are nVidia issues.
