and yes a public/closed beta would have been good, i think most devs/publishers are taking note of such things and will incorporate it into their plans eventually.

Yes. GSC where annoyed with THQ with the release of SoC.. THQ forced them to remove many aspects from the game, include vehicles, and 'open play' after the main missions where complete. But THQ wanted it out on the shelves, so some features where lost. When I play SoC, I can't really enjoy it without some certain mods, vehicle mod included.
With CS, GSC didnt want to be pushed around and told what to do.. thats why GSC ended up ditching THQ and going with Russian Koch.... even though they ended up going with Deep Silver in the end :S

Apart from this and turning off m3_msaa not much. I have a fix for the missing 'water pissing down the side of buildings' texture that patch 1.01 removed(!) and some other scripts that fix some crashes. I can't post a link to these from work (the firewall blocks the gsc forums for some reason) but if you go here http://www.gsc-game.com/index.php?t=...ums&offset=-60 and navigate to the Stalker forum and in the clear sky section there's a load of useful hints and scripts that improve the game while we wait for the next patch.

    Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

Where do they save screenshots? I took a few screens and can't find them

I'm using the r2_dof_far 40 and it looks epic. What does the m3_mass do?

'rs_stats on' gives you you're fps in the very top left.

This happened with the original stalker. Good job I haven't started yet.

    Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

damn the saved game compatibility problems.

btw here's a translated version which tries to explain what they're playing at

Why you have let out so crude product?

Testing of the Clear Sky has begun for half a year before the planned date of release. On the basis of the decision that game is reasonably stable and ready to release -it was accepted. As has shown we were mistaken. We apologize all those who has collided with critical mistakes in game. We shall use the best efforts as soon as possible to eliminate them.

Why NPC are not trained to see anomaly?

NPC sees anomalies. However in extreme situations there is probability of a mistake, they can forget about anomaly and run in in it.

Why there is not much more anomalies?

(Answer is about that they tried to sustain balance between an action-making of game and search of artefacts + making anomalies and their visual effects more unique

Why there are not so many mutants?

...It was scheduled, that in the afternoon to the player will meet basically people, and in night - mutants. The majority of people play day time time, preferring to wait night on bases of groupings. Therefore mutants meet so seldom.

Why is it that there are not present new monsters a chimera even, phantoms ...?

At addition of new monsters, we first of all think of making their unique. Unfortunately, АI monsters by the current moment much more concedes АI (some word???) And is simple so to add identical monsters on behaviour with different ??? we did not want.(Sorry )

What for such unreasonable complexity of game, even at a level "Beginner"?! Same game! A word game means pleasant pastime, rest, instead of stress long in all game process!

Our game is not calculated on passage to style Doom 3. Here it is necessary to be hidden from enemies, to avoid battles with 5 opponents at the same time.Even beginning players did not have problems as soon as they adapted to a gameplay. However, we shall track responses of players and bring appropriating corrections.

What for changes of some places in a zone (walls of laboratory of scientists, a ladder in a water tower in village, and other trifles), if between events of " the Clear sky " and " the Shadow of Chernobyl " all year? Really for a year someone has torn off all tile from the bunker of scientists, and has replaced a ladder in a water tower with usual on screw? And how for a year the Duty and Freedom had time to replace camp?

Year - sufficient time for serious changes. Especially in conditions of the Zone.

Often you meet the people who have survived after several gunshot wounds in a head? And it concerns not only people, but also the majority of monsters.

We do not endeavour to make extremely realistic game. And hits in a head characters maintain far not all. Usually it or powerful mutants with a firm skull (wild boars, fleshes).

    Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

I am going to put this game back in its box for a few months until its patched up. This save game problem is a joke! you would think that is one of the first items that would have been fixed in the list of issue they had with the original stalker.
