call of duty 4 permanent ban???

decided to have a go at my call of duty 4 last night bought it a few months ago on ebay after selling mine and realising i missed it.

so i jump onto online after patching it to 1.7 and i get a permanent ban kick went to pbbans.com and checked my code and it says a guy using the alias diamonddave was banned on feb 21st for using an aimbot violation.

i presume diamond dave must have been the guy who had this before me, so i have appealed to evenbalance and pbbans.com to get the ban lifted.

has anyone had this before what is the likelyhood of them lifting the ban as i paid £20 secondhand for this but have had it sitting there for about 4 months and dont still have the reciept so cant take it back.

yes of course pbbans will lift a ban by appeal, there a decent bunch of guys and im sure its not the 1st time this has happened. not sure on evenbalance getting back to you though.

may be worth contacting IWD and explaining you keep getting key in use and they may supply you a new one.

PBBANS said they wont remove the ban unless evenbalance agree to it as its above a guid of 50000 which means the ban was made by evenbalance and not them.

will give infinity ward a try cheers

PBBans is a low level ban, you'll only be banned on PBBans streaming servers (although there are alot) and their partners. If you get a global PB Ban (by GUID through EvenBalance) then you can't play on any PB server full stop.

IWD will forward you to activision and activision will tell you they don't have keys EvenBalance do and they will say they cannot supply one and they will say go buy another game. Yes they don't really care about how it happened. When I got the cd-key in use problem I installed CoD4 on a dedicated server and left myself on a server for months. The other user seemed to have gotten bored with my key and now I have no problems.

So it seems the person who sold it to you has kept a copy of the dvd and cd key and still uses it otherwise you wouldn't be getting that key in use message. You should have tried it out from the start so you could have reported him to ebay because thats what most of them do.

Re: call of duty 4 permanent ban???

ohh I see. Didn't read that one properly. But from experience they don't really care if you have a key in use problem and just want you to pay for another game. If you google you'll see loads of people have had their key stolen (trojans and whatnot) because IWD left the key storage to some idiot who decided storing it in the registry in it's original plain text form was best, and their efforts to get a new one all failed. But always try though you never know if they change their tune.

Re: call of duty 4 permanent ban???

have experienced the they dont care bit iwd dont do support activision do they wont help as moogle said.

key is on a permanent ban from all servers pb enabled.

seems only options i have are to spend out and buy another copy of this game, or use a key*** but don't really wanna do either of those options.

Re: call of duty 4 permanent ban???

you could always just buy another cd key if you wanted to. new cod4 key costs $16.50 from the people who mass buy and sell the legit keys only.

Re: call of duty 4 permanent ban???

got a response from evenbalance as follows

"The supplied GUID has been associated with hacking or interfering with the normal operation of our PunkBuster software and has therefore been compromised resulting in a global ban from PunkBuster enabled game servers. We have no way of knowing who was actually playing with this GUID at the time the violation was triggered. We also have no way to know if the violation was triggered on your specific computer. Our system does not collect personal information and furthermore we have no way to attach a cheat/hack violation to a specific person. This ban will not be lifted as then the person who did trigger the violation would again be able to join PunkBuster Servers using this GUID.

To be clear: we are not saying that you cheated as we have no way to know who triggered the violation. If it is certain that no one playing on your computer ever had a cheat/hack violation triggered by PunkBuster, then your GUID (cdkey and/or game account password) has been stolen by or leaked to someone who has used it on a different computer to trigger the violation. We do not have the means to help you find out who is responsible for compromising your GUID."

so basically no help at all looks like i gonna have to go your route moogle and buy a new code

    cheers all for your help

Re: call of duty 4 permanent ban???

    ahh well unlucky
Make sure when you play any PB protected game you close down every other program that might store user created text. PB scans your memory for certain signatures (text strings) and if lets say theres one in your memory and it finds it that will trigger a ban too. They did a test on ET:QW where they sent a message to a player on mIRC who was ingame which contained one of the strings and he got banned for it. Just a heads up.

Hope you get your new key soon. Don't run any dodgy programs because they can easily steal your CoD4 key.

thats minor stuff! you can reach 55 in no time
Once you reach 55 if you lose it you have the right to use the hack to get back to 55
