Don't bother anymore. I only got into online gaming recently so am a complete novice at CS, but there's nowhere to learn. I first thought the UK2 servers would be a good place as they were advertised for being for n00bs, but I'd be damned if I could find another newbie playing on them.

People get headshots every round, several kills a round and just disconnect and reconnect again. I got so annoyed with it I posted something on their forums about it it, and there response was like they didn't give a damn... so I don't bother.

I play other games online like IL-2 and LO:MAC which seem to have more mature players that will also help you learn and join you rather than plot to kill you (except in our last mission which the l33t Frogfoot bar stewards cained us n00bs in our ickle A-10's for no reason! ).

I'm a deathmatch person really, or CTF, so CS never really appealed to me as much.

Now TFC still rocks hard, and UT2004 is looking sweet!

I think I'll still give the UKTerrorists a good beating when they come to my local Cyber Caffe (or maybe not) hehe.

yeap I play CS daily under the alias of el.CORPSE-M@KER or [GOOD]CORPSE-M@KER depending on who I play for obviously .

As for the server - I might pop in but I tend to stay away from public servers now due to naughty kiddies with their unofficial "addons" and what not.

Yep, still play a fair bit! Been an admin for Demon uk for around 3 years, although they have really gone down hill! Used to have 10 servers with fast ping, mostly nice players and now we're down to 3 servers which can be fairly laggy at times Still admin for them tho, get to have a nice game (kicking the pricks off). I'm actually top of the stats table at the moment ...

Anyone know any 'real' newbie servers then? Or somewhere you can learn without cheating prats or clan member/hardcore gamers ruining the fun?

    LOL great link Apple

The reason I gave up playing CS was because of the all moaning kids. I was good at CS, I ain't bragging, just saying. I used to be in a top 3 CBUK CS clan and the amount of times I got called a cheat was unbelievable.

CS is a great game when played how it was meant to be played, but you are very, very lucky if you can ever get a good game on a public server

I play CS every now and again, usually play over at GSV, they tend to be a good bunch of chaps and there clan has members baised on there personality rather than playing ability, pop over to www.gsvgaming.net watch out for a chap called Clingy tho he tends to break things when he gets killed....

    195.20.108.45:27026 gsvgaming.net - UK CS server

Ok, good players come on as well but you wont have a good game runied by cheats or idiots as they are swiftly asked to pull their necks in and then kicked if they dont....

Always good to start on a "newbie" server but TBH if you stick on them then you only need to restart it all again when you go to a non-newb server. Learning curve is steep but worth it by going onto good servers

I used to play ages ago but lost my CD when I moved to Oz. Plus the ping times here are rubbish. Still play BF1942 and DC now and then.

Left CS for pretty much the same reasons here that people have been moaning about. Cheaters are 9 year olds. A shame really. In its heyday (around about beta 6) it was very , very good.

I get called a cheat sometimes.. but the ONE TIME I decided to cheat, noone even notices?!

Ridiculous, tbh. People see you getting good shots in with a scout and you're a cheat - get 7 headshots in a row with a TMP and you're a genius.

I'd agree on the GSV front....but its such a damn hard game to master if you start so late in the game's life/development , that catching up is gonna be a challenge.

I started around 1.2 - 1.3, gave up. Went back during 1.5 and really got back into it then started to play 1.6 and VALVe detected some 'unortharised components' on my PC (modifyed GFX drivers) which then banned me from playing on VAC servers and locked my CD Key for 5 years :| so I stopped playing. I try to hinder Valve in any way now as I think there Steam system is total bs, its a good idea but the way its operated is really bad.
