PS3 for both, tho I've played PES demo on PC as well, which was pretty much identical to PS3.

I tried both demos last night (having not played FIFA for years and only hearing good things these days) and quite enjoyed both. What surprised me was that I found FIFA to be faster and less tactical. I was up and down the pitch like a 5-a-side match with a win of 3-1 and plenty of action. By comparison, PES was a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Perhaps it's just a random fluke and I probably need to play both demos a little more to decide what to buy, but FIFA certainly wasn't what I expected.

I probably wouldn't have even bothered to look at FIFA if PES2008 hadn't been so bad. I can happily say that all my gripes have been remedied with 2009 and it's a far smoother experience. I also like the fact that you can quickly skip past all the cutscene gumpf that I never cared about... just let me get back to the game. The lack of a complete roster of fully licenced teams, and very average graphics still annoys me tho. I find it quicker to load, smoother in almost every way compared to PES, which may be a consequence of this.

I preferred it when FIFA was rubbish. It was so much easier to decide which to buy.

Have you got fifa on an easy setting, as it's really not like that. Fifa is very tough on the harder settings, probobly more so than PES.

For those that want PES demo for longer you can download this and extend the game time

See, we spend so much time talking about which is best FIFA or PES we seem to miss the fact that neither of them are actually very good. PES has better gameplay, but its still not great, FIFA looks better but its hardly an amazing looking game.

I love football, but neither of these 2 games are that great to play or nice to look at. Will probably pick PES up but only because there isn't much else new out at the moment.

We don't miss the point that the're bad games, we don't actually think they are bad games. That is just your opinion, and from the reviews of the games they are both usually universally liked by critics.

If you think FIFA09 is a brilliant game, you are very easily pleased.

Brilliant, if i thought it were that good i wouldn't be planning on buying pre evo instead now would I.

I think they are both good games, but i don't think brilliant is a word i'd use to describe either.
But again, you said they were both bad and that we were all missing that point, i say your missing this point.

Re: PES 2009 PC Demo Available!!!

What I'd say is, for me at least, a game that looked like FIFA and played like PES would be great - as that game doesn't exist, I'm left with 2 average choices.

    FIFAPES I'd jump at.

I'm all for linking reviews, but please don't link to 5 paragraphs on Yahoo! giving the game a perfect 5/5 as if thats going to mean anything. Its not the most in-depth review is it?

The high scores are for the package, the looks, all the features. I've played it, and its certainly not a 9/10 game going on the gameplay.

Maybe not both bad games, but both compromises... so not great.

Re: PES 2009 PC Demo Available!!!

I with you there, the gameplay alone for fifa doesn't come close to a 9. But the finish and the extras and the fact that it's always well liked means the score are always very good.
You can expect too that PES won't score as high as fifa due to the final finish of the product, but i'm still of the opinion the gameplay for PES is a little better.

Re: PES 2009 PC Demo Available!!!

My dad doesn't play games but when I was playing FIFA 09 the other night on the 360 he was hugely impressed by how realistic the player and ball movement was and how the game played out tactically.

I think the difference is that PES is much easier to just pick up and play whilst FIFA takes much longer, but FIFA has much more depth in it's gameplay.
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

Thats funny, my dad said that about fifa too. Only that was fifa road to the world cup 98

PES not in depth? you wanna try learning the skills for it

No mate, if there is one area where PES is in front, then its the gameplay. I wont raise my eyes like Andy, you can just imagine me doing it.
