    Xbox360 or PC upgrade?

So existentialist crisis for me, buy an xbox360 or upgrade my PC with a 4850 and x2 4400+ (it's a socket 939 chip and really only a stop gap measure to get over this batch of winter games and Empire:Total War)? Essentially the only game I want on Xbox rather than PC is FIFA 09 but I really really want it.

The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

Well you can pick up an Xbox arcade for £100 now. If all you want it for is Fifa then you won't be needing an HDD for it, the memory card you get with the arcade is fine for game saves.

Also there is Gears of War 2 next month on the 360 as well, dunno how interested you are in that.

Just out of interests what games use the HDD and to what ends? Do some install to it?

    Re: Xbox360 or PC upgrade?

    Don't do it!!!!

Buy a 360 if price is your choice, there are plenty of great game deals plus your cpu would bottleneck your graphics anyway. How much RAM do you have? What is your current cpu?

I am running an AMD 4400 X2 939 OC to 2.6ghz with an 8800GT stock OC, everything plays well but I wouldn't buy another PC just now, or upgrade just yet due to price wars and imminent product releases.

I bought a 360 last week and I am truly happy with my purchase, with Live being updated next week and the dashboard update looking awesome it feels more like a media box.
Also, just use Tversity on your pc to stream any movies/tv/audio from your pc and you have a streaming media center in the mix too.

If you want it for Fifa then a console is the most fun way to play it, you and I know that. Especially with mates...it is always an important point.
Fable 2 is coming out for the 360 soon and looks awesome.

Depends on if you care but football manager 2009 comes out soon to occupy minds for months so save your money for some RAM ha!

Save your $ and enjoy gaming at a fair price point instead of the circus that is component upgrades.

    Re: Xbox360 or PC upgrade?

yeah after some research via google it would appear the Xbox's HDD is actually not that necessary, infact the only use I could see for it is downloading demos. The new arcades come with 256mb so that's more than enough for game saves and the like. Plus I can add a HDD later if I need one.

    Re: Xbox360 or PC upgrade?

The HDD will be nice to have when the new feature that allows you to rip and run the the games from the HDD comes in. You still need the disc in the 360 to play the games but it cuts down on the noise and the loading times

Well there is demos, XBL Arcade games, videos, music, and with the next dashboard update there is the ability to 'copy' a game to the hard drive to reduce noise and speed up load times

But as said, go for the arcade, it's easy to add the HDD at a later date, and a 20gb one is £30 or so, and if you hook it up to a network with a vista PC on, you can set them up to share the media so you can use it as a media player for films, music etc

And there are the games.....and the state of PC gaming now going up poop creek...

Really? Took seconds to set mine up.

Not trying to be funny or anything, I did not realise there were issues with setting up under XP.

Gears will be on PC, so the only game you want the 360 for is fifa?

I'd upgrade the PC and get games cheaper for that. Fifa on the PC isn't all that different.

I thought they had said a firm no to doing Gow2 on the PC. So if you are wanting to play GoW2 it's going to have to be on the xbox.

Why get gears 1 when you wont be able to play gears 2 out in just over a month?

and GoW 2 got a firm no for the PC for various reasons

When i say gears will be out, it's future tense, i really didn't think anyone wouldn't get that i ment 2.

As for it not being out on PC i never knew, seems a strange decision after the first one was brought out and did ok.
But it's not somthing i'm interested in buying so never looked into it, just assumed it'd be the same. First one just seemed to go on and on doing the same thing.
