The deaths in Max Payne 2...

    Hi.

Just been playing some Max Payne 2, and was really impressed how the people you shoot end up. Its really very impressive, as instead of just falling through walls or whatever they actually fold and bend.

On the downside i keep forgetting to save the game, so when i die i end up miles back

Hitman 2 is crazy for that! On the first level, opening the kitchen door from the inside to see someone standing on the porch. I shoot him once with the ballers in the head, he flies about 60-70 metres and crashes against the garden wall.

    Fun stuff

Yeah, the physics in MP2 is top. My mate worked as a developer on Carmageddon 2, and was working on a similar system, but the PC's were not powerful enough to model his code a few years back. I think the havoc engine is simpler than what they were trying. He showed me a demo ages ago that looked really good, but it made the game run at about 4fps whenever the physics were turned on.

I think this is where games are going now realism wise. Super realistic physics and interaction of objects. Mmmm.

First time I played MP2 I was thinking how similar it is to HL2, the way everything reacts realistically...

    Hi Guys,

Like MP2 alot. Didn't really dig the physics engine though. Touch a box and it goes fl;ying. Is that realistic? As for when you shot someone, well. I shot one bloke as he was coming through the door, his legs were on one side and his body was on the other. Of a closed door people!!! Penn and Teller would be proud of such magical abilities. Physics engines are good, but not that good.

Same in Splinter Cell. Drop a body near the wall and their arms/head/legs disappear!

But, when they're knocked out or shot in the head, they drop to their knees before falling flat in their faces. Very nice!

hmm...just playing some more. Damn i love it, really should do some college work but it is too much fun.

Anyone know how many chapters there are? I was annoyed with the first one that it was so short...think that was 3.

The phsyics are sometimes a bit sketchy, with the amount peolpe fly around, but when it goes into a slow mo when you kill someone (spins the camera) and they fall down something or whatever its just great

Ever played Devistation? That's FUNNY how bad its physics engine is: when you touch a box or chair it literally spins in the air and flys across the room.
