Assassin's Creed PC pausing glitch - Workaround
I've posted this elsewhere but thought it might be useful for you guys too.

Thought this could be useful if anyone encounters the same issue as me.
When I got Assassin's Creed it initially ran very well. Recently it had been pausing for up to 5 seconds, usually when you make a kill or collect a flag etc. I was baffled at first but a bit of googling found me a fix.
Disconnect the internet or block the assassins creed exe with a decent (not Windows) firewall. I was amazed. Simply unplugging my ethernet sorted the problem. I dread to think what the game's started doing in the background that it didn't used to.
The game is in dire need of another patch. I have to Alt Enter in just to get it to run in full screen, the exiting process is rediculous, and now this. Oh and it only recognises Wired not wireless 360 controllers by default. Rediculous!

I agree another npatch is needed for the reasons mentioned above, not very impressed at all, weird about the internet thing though, never had that problem :S
Re: Assassin's Creed PC pausing glitch - Workaround
Wow, thanks for sharing, I've been playing AC for a while now on my new PC and I kinda love the game, already completed it and now going for all the Flags/Templars, my friend was also playing it but encountered this problem, the only solution he found so far was everytime he wanted to play it he needed to reinstall the game, it would play normal. But once he turned his PC off and on, restarted AC and the problem was back...
Thanks for sharing ;P

Just a quick update. Changed from an 8800GT to an HD4850 and Assassin's Creed now works automatically in full screen. The pausing glitch is gone but that may have been a problem with Ubisoft's server.
"The way it's meant to be played" eh? Marvellous.
