    Unreal 3...

    OK,
So there is Unreal Tournament 3 which uses the Unreal Engine 3 then there is the upcoming Unreal Engine 4 (which has been in development since 2003!), but what about a new single player Unreal 3 game?
Is there any chance Unreal 3 might see the light of day?!
I know Unreal 2 was a great disappointment compared to the 1st Unreal, but it would be cool to see a new single-player Unreal 3 game with large non-linear levels, excellent music and a cool sci-fi movie-oriented story-line like Unreal 1!

    Re: Unreal 3...

I really enjoyed unreal 2 actually, but then I did pick it up for about 2 quid so didn't have high expectations I think Mass Effect is a remarkably similar game to it as well

They will have probably considered a console one, but there just isn't the money in it for the PC.

    Re: Unreal 3...

Unreal II was ok, just disapointingly short. As for Unreal III, I agree it's been a long time & no action. Loads of hype about the game engine & no actual Unreal III game. Poor show.

I'm not holding my breath, Epic seem to be making far more money just licensing the engine these days.

    Re: Unreal 3...

OK, maybe Unreal 2 was not a great disapointment, but it was one of the 1st modern FPS that initialized the heavily-linear path gameplay style. And those between-level scenes at the Atlantis spaceship were so boring!

Oh and what's with those guys in Gears of War wielding chainsaw heavy-machine guns?!
I've seen ridiculous weaponry in games before, but they look so retardated!

    Re: Unreal 3...

rather they run round with heavy machine guns than the crappy alien guns from halo to be honest.

and the gears marines are almost a direct copy of the warhammer 40k space marines, so nothing re\lly much wrong there.

    Re: Unreal 3...

I really enjoyed unreal 1, never played the second cus I got the impression it wasnt as good, though I would probably be interested if they released a third. I'm more of a campaign/single player gamer myself.

    Re: Unreal 3...

Well, if you liked the vast non-linear levels, the sci-fi/mystery movie atmosphere and interesting storyline of Unreal 1, you'll be in for a shock with Unreal 2!

    Re: Unreal 3...

I think I spent the entire game staring at Aida's Assets

Don't think we will be getting another installment of this, Epic is too busy with GOW
They even released UT3 with so many problems, it was pretty obvious it was rushed.

Would love for someone to take UT3 and make a linear game out of it though

    Re: Unreal 3...

I personally thought Unreal 2 was a good game, with a good ending too which is a rarity these days. I remember a few years ago that what were thought to be monster renders for Unreal 3 were then put into Gears of War.

    ****Spoilers!!!****

Yes I'll agree with you on that!
The ending of Unreal2 was great! Unlike the majority of cheesy Hollywood movie endings, this one was actually sad and dramatic and it also had a dark & sinister feel!
The part where the massive flagship changed course towards the star and the ship's computer was constantly announcing the distance and the rising temperature of its hull and the eminent destruction, was such a cool touch! Also, everybody dies in the end and the hero escapes with all these sad thoughts in his head, to trouble him for God knows how long!

    ****Spoilers end****

By the way, is it true that you can play Unreal Tournament 3 in one player mode using patch 1.2?
But is there an actual one player story-line campaign mode with non-linear levels, enemy creatures & end level Bosses?
Or is it like the one player mode of Unreal Tournament 2003?
I've played that and it was just a death-match through the levels against the AI players!
    Not very interesting...
