    New gaming graphics card

Looking for some advice i have a £200 budget to get a new graphics card to play games such as cod4 and cod5 when released. Im an nVidia guy so id prefer to stay with them but am open to all suggestions.
My problem is gettin a card that will fit my Dell Dimension E521, i dont know what will fit or how to find out (noob at this stuff never done it before)

im going to have to update my PSU aswell depending on what the card needs.

    Re: New gaming graphics card

Is that dell a "Slim" one or just a normal tower style case?

In my mind I'm thinking 9600GT or from ATi an HD4670 which will both do a good job of COD4/5 but will struggle with more demanding games.

Also you are probably better off posting or getting this one moved to the hardware > Graphics section.

    Re: New gaming graphics card

Most cards will fit in that tbh. The ATi above doesn't need any special power connectors, runs straight off the mobo which is nice.

    Re: New gaming graphics card

yea i got another thread going in that section just thought id ask here aswell. Apparently the 9800GTX+ wont fit it so we're trying to figure out the best card i can get for it. I dont know alot about ATI but if they give me better FPS and is closer to £200 than a 9800 that will fit my PC im willing to learn lol

    Re: New gaming graphics card

I would say GTX260, I've got one, and it's nice and quiet and uses less juice than the 4870 about £190 for the older type like I have. http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=25547 - £207 on scan today only offer or http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...+DL+DVI%2fHDTV £195.05

I have no idea if these will fit in your Dell or if your PSU is up to the task. 2 x 6 pin pcie connectors are required and the card itself is big, just barely fits in my case with some maneuvering of the hard drive cage.

    Re: New gaming graphics card

Ive looked at it but according to strike-down its unlikely it will fit. He recommends a 9800 GT which is under my budget. I was just wondering if ATI have anything better than the 9800 GT that would fit? Im FPS hungry

Better ATI is the 4870. But you might need to check the length on that too, might not fit.

You'll need a good 500W or better PSU with 2, 6 pin connctors for the graghics card.

9800 GT will be fine though, but there's also the 9800GTX+, but again it's long.

    Thanks for your help.
With alot of help from everyone in the video hardware section we've come to the decision of the

    4850 and a Corsair HX520W PSU

    will be ordering it tomorrow
