    NXE is here!

    Wahey!
So, for those Hexites that have Xbox Live, we now have a slightly cooler looking dashboard, the ability to install games, and a pretty cool party mode. Oh and wii stylee avatars.

    Opinions?

    Re: NXE is here!

    Love it!

only had a play around with the new dashboard and made my avatar. Later on ill have a go installing a game and seeing how quiet/fast it runs. From what i have heard its great so im sure i wont be disappointed.

There is a slight lack of variation in the clothes for the avatars, but with updates to come im sure that will get sorted out soon. Changing colours would be nice too

    I think its great too
Love the Avatars, though like you said, not enough choice with clothes/shoes. Party mode is nice and simple to use and it generally looks very cool.

Same as most - looks better, the avatar stuff is far too basic.

Nah, Xbox Silver members get it too Josh.
But they do desperately need some more features for the avatar.

    Re: NXE is here!

Seems to me like there's far too many menus to navigate, other than that I like it.

If you haven't already, navigate to the Gears of War 2 themes on Marketplace, there's a theme specificly designed for the NXE and it's free.. well atleast it was for me, I've no idea if that's still the case.

    Re: NXE is here!

Installing the games is a nice feature, and it does look a little better. But the avatar and the 'party' is just a pathetic waiste of time (for me at least). you don't have an option but to use it from what i can see.

Installed GTA 4 to my HDD ~ made absolutely no difference whatsoever. Really disappointed in that feature.

    Re: NXE is here!

I installed GTA IV as well. It now has loading errors all the time. Like I'll be driving along and the road will disappear, or the cars will be floating or textures won't fully load or even buildings won't load so I crash into them when there's nothing on the screen.

NeedMoarFarms - The difference is the DVD stops spinning when the game is playing so it's quieter. I think that was the main point, rather than improving load times.

I like the new dashboard. It seems very swish. The avatars are a bit pointless and look a lot like Wii Miis. There are new resolutions so I can set it to 1440 x 900. But it puts a black bar on the top and bottom.

I wish you could change the bloody grey 'floor' bit of the theme rather than just the background!

Its just a far more mature version of the same concept. Personally I like the idea of having a virtual representation of myself for use in games. With the introduction of avatars I really don't think it will be long till a developer has a crack at doing wii sports on the 360 complete with a motion senstive controller. On that front one company I can't recall is already working on wii mote's for both the 360 and the PS3...

As a suggestion have you got the correct aspect ratio selected?

I don't really mind the avatars, it's just that they seem a bit pointless to me. But then it would be silly to leave everything out just because one person doesn't find it interesting.

You can't change the aspect ratio on VGA.
