Hitting the XBox button on the controller brings up a screen like the old blade system.
Even if you did manage to remove it and put the old one back, you can almost be sure that future game releases will require the latest build of the dashboard. In this case you will have to update via the game disc before being able to play and you will be back to square one.
Just keep having a play with it, I wasn't to keen myself on initial installation. Now though I know where everything is and actually quite like it.
I thought you could switch the theme back, somehow?
thanks guys![]()
Definitely not removable, I think it changes the kernel which makes it permanent as the new kernel isn't backwards compatible.
I got it a few weeks early (officially!) and hated it to, but I've grown to like it more. Still hate the avatars though.
From reading Microsoft's website, I learned that the New Xbox Experience requires either a hard drive or memory card. I was assuming this is because the NXE does not completely fit on the Xbox's internal storage? Is this the case, and if so, what happens if you boot your Xbox without any external storage devices attached? I have not yet upgraded to NXE but would like to know before I do.
R.I.P. Yaris...
You need the extra storage to be able to install it, 120 Mb required for download hence the memory card or hard disc. The XBox has enough storage built in for it, kind of like the bios on a PC motherboard is the best way to look at it. I have unplugged my hard disc (due to the sound error with the HDMI) and turned it on and NXE is there, albeit without my personal avatar and games list etc

The lucky people with the new "Jasper" revision will be able to install it without any HDD/memory pack as the new models have 256M of built in memory for this particular reason.
Lots of other improvements regarding heat/RROD too....
