    Looking for a game

    hello,

I currently have a quite an impressive PC spec-wise, and am looking to use it. However, I haven't really purchased any games for a couple of years I think. The only one I remember buying is World in Conflict. I've always played on flight simulator software instead.

Now, I'm looking for a game that can take advantage of a high end graphics card and sound setup. Any ideas? I was thinking along the lines of a game like this:

    http://www.callofduty.com/

I should mention also I'm looking for a game than can take advantage of the physics processing on nvidia cards. I've heard of games that allow you to "destroy everything". Any modern games do this in a realistic manner?

I know it sounds silly but I'd also want a game that isn't too hard to play, I'm a total beginner when it comes to war games like the above.

I'd be very appreciative of any help!!!

    Re: Looking for a game

Sounds like you're really looking for a tech demo rather than a game

    Cellfactor?

If you're looking for a fun game to play and that has physics (regardless of whether it uses nVidia or not) then Fallout 3 is a great game.

    Re: Looking for a game

And remember that most games these days have demos that you can download and muck about with.
    http://filelist.filefront.com/LatestGameDemos

Have a look at Unreal 3, COD4, Crysis.
To be honest, many of these demos are good enough for me for a 20 minute blast, without needing to buy the full thing!

    Re: Looking for a game

    hello,

I've tried COD4, and have to say am quite impressed. The story line was excellent from what I could tell. However, the graphics weren't all that amazing, and the "physics" wasn't impressive either.

I've had a look at fallout 3 and UT, but I'm not really looking for that sort of game.

I can't believe it's so hard to pick a game.

    Re: Looking for a game

I really quite enjoyed the COD4 demo, I think it's the type of game I'm looking for. The only let down was the graphics and the physics.

There was also an excellent story line to it, which makes the game far more interesting than a game where the only objective is to kill (like UT from what I understand).

Give Crysis/Crysis:Warhead a blast then. You can download a trial version of Crysis Wars which is the multiplayer aspect of Crysis: Warhead.

Get fallout 3... graphics are very nice but not the best in the world, physics aren't the best in the world but its hysterical good fun! Lots of re-playability

    Re: Looking for a game

PhysX is a bit of a lame duck at the moment, no one wants to apply it in any way which affects gameplay for fear of alienating used who don't have it.

I think that GRAW2 had it to make the explosions a bit more 'full of bits' and UT3 has a patch for similar effect but I don't think there are any games which make serious use of it yet.

Have a look on Gametrailers.com for the new PC trailer for Mirrors Edge. It shows lots of great physics that's PC exclusive. Looks nice.
Comes out in January some time.

    Re: Looking for a game

    hello,

I had a look at crysis, and yes you guessed it, not what I'm looking for.

I think the war based games like COD is what will suit me best. They're not as hard anyway.

Are there any others, apart from from COD?

What makes the decision harder is the lack of demos for a lot of games (I was looking particularly for COD5). How are people supposed to decide?

    Re: Looking for a game

if you want a good multiplayer game, go for a call of duty game for sure, if your looking for a good single player then i suggest bioshock or fallout3

    or even far cry 2...
