Thumbs down GTAIV PC = Fail

hahahaahaha. so now you'll need another new rig to beat the el cheapo console eye candy...

    http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6201971.html

not surprised but the bit about people giving it 1 out of 5 is terrible...

i know this may sound out of depth but say gta3 yeah that ran fine on whatever you had and IV is in no way more advanced in this day and age than 3 was back then. we still had the equivalent powerful hardware at the time... seems like another HL2 failure... remember the "designed for HL2" certified cards... my 9600XT was one of them... couldn't run it on full whack could i neither could the 9800pro/xt... they should have waited till you could get the full experience...
i know for example with crysis etc there is always a game no hardware can max out on but gta/max payne have always been such hardware friendly games based on the time vs hardware spec point i'm making.

and requiring patches and stuff to fix general graphics... ouch. this sucks.

damn this really does suck. my brother was right, i was trying to rush and lay a purchase down on this, he told me to wait a while and see what the news is and how it works out. glad we never bought it!

well, i don't mind playing a game on medium or relatively decent settings, doesn't have to be maxed out for me. but defo don't want problematic gaming.

yeah but why bother when you could play it at way nicer 1080p on a h00ge tv looking pretty... just isn't worth the upgrading when you could buy a console and the game for sod all

    Re: GTAIV PC = Fail

Sorry but if "high" settings are just for future graphic cards then WTF DO THEY KNOW? GPU in PC's are much more powerful compared to the consoles and really console games tend to be medium gfx and PC get the high setting, why have they done this?. They blame NVIDIA for the low FPS, bloody hell its their fault for not sorting it as nvidiai didnt make the game, code it for the hardware idiots.

Now is it actually any good? i think my dad bought it for me for christmas , so screwed. Anyone with similar specs to me and play it good?

So is PC gaming going to die? almost every game has some sort of rubbish DRM in it and this game is full of it and has much more higher requirements then crysis which looks a lot better then this

Well.... I'm running it on an E6850@3.5Ghz with twin HD4870s and it runs fine on medium-high. I did have the issue with the Rockstar Social thingummy, but I can live without that for now as I've not played the game in single player enough to want to indulge in online shenanigans as yet.

Personally I'm really enjoying it, but that could be because I largely ignored all the hype when it was released on the consoles.

PC gaming is only going to die in the same way that it's been dying for the last 10 years if you believe everything you read on the intarwebs.

Just another case of lazy programming, it certainly doesn;t look all that graphically complex yet they're covering up the fact they don't want to support it with the idea that it's designed for some future PC? It wasn't ported by Bethesda was it?

you sorta contradict yourself there? but yeah it's stupid that crysis runs better looks better and lower spec hardware requirements yet this runs like sh*ttle...
all i'm saying is they should gear it to current hardware like with gta3.then if you had the top of the line you'd get the extra eye candy cheekyness but otherwise it still runs and looks bloody good.but they don't do that all they same to want to know is mindgame people into constantly upgrading when you could just buy a console once and then be set for the top games at pretty nice settings when compared to pc and enjoy it for just the price of the game and sit back and not worry if there's going to be bugs/glitches hardware specific to your setup etc etc

If you have a 360 or ps3 there is no reason to get this game on PC. From reading this review I don't think I want it on my PC anyway. http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/...v-pc/1#Scene_1
