    Question PC Shooter?

Okay, so I'm wanting to buy myself a late Christmas present. Only, I'm a miser with my money. Pretty much all the other stuff I was thinking of getting before, I didn't get..!

Anyway, I've decided I need myself a good oldfashined PC shooter. So now I was in the pickle of WHICH one to get!

So, Hexites, please reccomend me a shooter!

I am looking at Crysis Warhead, Crysis, CoD:WaW [but thats like 30 quid at the cheapest place I can find!], Far Cry 2....and more if they are suggested....

    So, which one?

(I have CoD 4, bought that and finished it a while ago)

    Re: PC Shooter?

Gears 1 for the PC is REALLY good, you also get an extra level where you fight a Brumak which is pretty cool.

Also like mentioned Steam have a sale on and Bioshock is a mere £3.49, complete steal that one and well worth the money even at £30.

    Re: PC Shooter?

A bit more of a third person shooter this, and getting on a bit.

But the Max Payne games were really great. Good shooting, good atmosphere and sense of humour. You can't go far wrong with some Max Payne.

    Got STALKER:Shadow of Chornboyl?

I bought it for £10 at Gamestation and promptly got addicted.

    Re: PC Shooter?

So Bioshock sounds wicked...I think I'll bag it...

Out of Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and Far Cry 2....Which is best? (they're all 15 quid...)

EDIT: Gears was £27.51 at Amazon, but its £17.99 at Play, so its sort of on the cards as well...

Get the orange box on steam, not sure how much it is but it won't be much. TF2 is just £6.99 atm if you want to get that, certainly fun.

    Re: PC Shooter?

Easily Half-Life 2 and its subsequent episodes. Also notable is Far Cry, Doom 3, and the original Half-Life (as well as its expansion Opposing Force). And no good shooter list is complete without mentioning F.E.A.R.

    Re: PC Shooter?

Played farcry 2, pretty hard, somewhat acquired technique to surviving. But I'm really starting to enjoy it =) Takes some patience and it's pretty edgy.

Gears of war is just epic and intense, real good fun =) Can recommend both of those from a personal point of view.

Getting gears of war and farcry 2 would definitely keep you entertained for a while =D and bioshock at 3.49 is a bargain

    Re: PC Shooter?

Bit the bullet, Bioshock at 3.49, SOLD

Steam also had the Crysis complete pack for 29.69, and I bagged that.

Having tried Far Cry 2 on a mate's 360, I decided I liked it, but it wasn't what I was after...Similarly, Gears was fun, but a bit too dark and gritty for what I was after...

Either way, thanks for the help guys!

Left4Dead was a REAL contender, but again, I was after something a little lighter....Plus, I got a dodgy internet connection, and Left4Dead would have been no fun single player...

    Re: PC Shooter?

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 was £8 at Zavvi the other day and i picked it up.

IMO is much better than the first Vegas (which i still enjoyed) in terms of setting and levels however they messed up the squad AI (they get caught on random things like a puddle) however it's not a complete game-breaker..

    Re: PC Shooter?

If your pc can handle it, get Crysis

Blew me away first time i played it last year, just booted it up again and turned everything on max, still can't believe my eyes!

Maybe half life 2 as well, i've just started the lost coast, really good!
