Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
Since the 360 has pretty all the fighting games the PS3 has to offer (Tekken 6, YES), i'm thinking of getting a decent arcade style joystick (the pad just doesn't quite cut it)..
other than Hori (quite expensive), anyone used any of the other 3rd party stick (if there are any)..
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
What price were you looking for ? The Hori's tend to go for £30-40 (i assume that's what you class as expensive ?).
I believe MadCatz are going to release an SFIV fighting stick to coincide with the launch although that could be up to a month or two away. Not to mention they're also releasing an SFIV fighting pad which has six face buttons (puts the triggers as buttons) and has a d-pad instead of a stick.
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
The MadCatz controllers are wired unfortunately.
If you want to spend a bit of cash, you could build one yourself, which is what I'm doing.
Here's the solution in the mean time:

and yes, thats a wireless controller inside a Box File

WOW, how???
was it a kit or did u pick all the parts yourself?
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
It uses a Pink Wireless Xbox 360 controller, as they're cheap at £18.
The new ones are common ground, so the stick just solders right in.
The stick is a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT from gremlinsolutions.co.uk
The buttons are Sanwa 30mm OBSF.
I'm constructing two wooden sticks, both using the same joysticks, but with a mixture of 30mm Sanwa OBSN and 24mm Seimetsu. The two sets of buttons I got from lizardlick.com and were about £50 inclusive of shipping and import tax.
Not exactly the cheapest method of getting a stick, but it's worth it for the wireless and thrill of building your own!

The triggers are potentiometer based. Are you sure it's not the bumpers which are switch based?

Most likely.
I just knew it was a set of shoulder buttons and took a guess :P.
Nice stick though :o.
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
haha cheers.
strangely, it's holding up well given that it's made of cardboard!
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
clicky
These were the Madcatz ones i was on about earlier =].
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
awesome thanks :)
the tournament stick looks great, but I wonder how much it'll cost!
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
I'd estimate/assume the normal stick and pads to go around £25-30 and the tournament stick... £50?
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
aww man, nowhere near :(
$80 for the standard one, and $150 for the Tournament one.
The hexus article has the tournament and standard mixed up btw, the tournament edition is the larger red one

:o Joking :crazy::crazy::crazy::surprised::surprised::surprised:
+ the white one looks so much nicer as well :(, especially with the brushed artwork ;>.
Re: Xbox 360 Arcade joysticks?
I've got the Mad Catz arcade stick (not the street fighter one), the dpad is still crap and the left shoulder buttons are awkward. It's got a swivel disk around the right thumbstick which is good for games like astropop (you get a code which gives you that, time fighter and frogger with it).
