Well i`ve had it since release and the only issue was the game wouldnt start if you where logged into social club. that was resolved pretty quickly.
A lot of ppl jumped on to GTA4 slagging it off without even trying it. As long as ur pc is good enough then the game will work fine.
its around 16gb, havent played for more than 5 mins yet, need a processor!
Mines
DFI lanpart x48 board
q6600 chip clocked to 3ghz
4 gig ddr ram
1 gig ati 4870.
The game is cpu and ram intensive so ur pc should run it fine.
The only problem is there is no AA at all but that was the same with the console versions.
Works fine on my PC (to an extent), although I regret getting it now as I can only play it at the lowest resolution with absolute minimum graphics settings. Doesn't look entirely crap, I still see most of the effects and it still looks more realistic than previous versions in high resolution.
But for me it's all about the playability rather than the graphics, and it plays fine. Only ever had one crash and have put in a few days worth of play time to it.![]()
I'm playing decently enough with my rig with these options:
Resolution: 1680x1050
Texture Quality: Medium
Render Quality: Highest
View Distance: 31
Detail Distance: 95
Vehicle Density: 62
Shadows: 1
I generally get framerates in the 30s, sometimes 40s, though if its real busy, it can drop down into the mid-to-high 20s (still seems to play decently enough at 25 and higher, much like Crysis). I keep the VSync enabled (it is by default), and use D3DOverrider (I don't know if it helps any, but it seems to. SecuROM won't allow the game to launch if it is running; what I do is when I get to the Main Menu, Alt+Tab out and turn it on then). I also don't use the P-key's 'post-processing'; the blur just looked bad to me. I'll put up with the jaggies from lack of AA over that.
Performance is good enough for now. ^_^ I just hope Rockstar puts out another patch.![]()
I never understood why the put the post processing in the games. Its like smearing the screen with vaseline.
I've not had much trouble with it really, although I can't get Rockstar Social club to load on the game menu, says it needs flash player 10 installed, flash player 10 is installed. I'm not really that bothered about that feature but its a bit odd, any ideas? I've tried removing it and re-installing it and I've tried changing the security settings for flash 10, no change.

Let us know if that solves the issue. It seems to be a common solution to a lot of problems like that, especially for users who don't keep their IE up-to-date (like if you primarily use another browser). Since I do use IE as my main browser, I tend to not get caught by this type of thing.
I remember the recent beta of the Steam client had a similar reliance on IE having Flash (or something of that ilk...maybe it was having Javascript on in IE and having Java installed; it was for Steam's new in-game web browser, whatever it was). Your issue soundedl ike a similar dependance.![]()
