    Re: Best driving simulator?

GTR:Evolution is the most realistic at the moment. If you've got a console then Race Pro on x360 is going to be your best bet (feburary) - but it's proper GT/WTCC type racing, not really 'ordinary' cars, and certainly not daft things like modding/nitrous etc.

Personally, I would rate Netkar Pro and Iracing above the GTR series it terms of realism.

Plus for the real geeky types on the Race series/GTR Series you can tweak anything and everything on the car for the perfect track setup, right down to the tyre pressures and the toe in and out etc etc

NASCAR Racing by papyrus - 1994. start race, turn around, crash into leading car at full speed, watch replay of fantastic pileup, repeat

or seriously.. live for speed is the one that grabbed me the most - driving even just the demo cars with a wheel is a lot of fun, XF GTI FTW

Most realistic? Probably the BSM Driving Simulator.

    Re: Best driving simulator?

Really depends on what cars you want to drive, my preference is GTR Evolution has a broad spread of racing/road cars and tacks from all over the world. Any specific needs and you might prefer iRacing, LFS, rFactor etc.

    Re: Best driving simulator?

In terms of gameplay and realism it has to be GTR Evolution for me. Endlesly customisable good visuals and can be found very cheap even though it's not that old.

    Re: Best driving simulator?

GTR Evolution is a later game from Simbin, it has a wider range of cars than GTR2 and uses a later version of the same game engine. Note that is an expansion to the required RACE07 game but is usually available very cheap as a 2 game pack (in fact I just checked and it is £9.99 from a big online retailer).
There are still many GTR2 fanboys as it has a big fanbase and loads of mods but in my view GTR Evolution has a better driving model and definitely better force feedback.

Yes to both. GTR:Evo includes Race 07 too.

    Re: Best driving simulator?

Racer Free Car Simulation is great, if the cars have proper physics.

    If not, rFactor or LFS

    Re: Best driving simulator?

Realistic? iRacing by miles and miles. There's a reason why several pro racing drivers play it. Dale Earnhardt Jr is addicted to it.

Respectable shoutout to rFactor (though most decent mods are made by the community, so hardly pro jobs, but some are very good).

NASCAR Racing 2003 (the Papyrus one) is still very good, and there's a few non-American mods for other cars too, including the excellent GTP mod. Can be difficult to get a hold of now, so Ebay is the best bet.
