EDIT: Man - its a crawl, all the linked servers on gamershell seem to be getting hammered.... 45KB/s on a 10MB connection. Might have to look for a better mirror...
Realised that I am at work - so I cant really look for a mirror70% down so far, 'only' 6hrs 14mins to go

Why not try the filefront one? I got 500kps from it constant when I was using it.
The game itself.... I hope you have a widescreen monitor and are tolerant to console menus.
Got bored of waiting for my other DL to finish so after trying about 10'000'000 mirrors, finally found a decent one! I was getting 780-ish constantly give it a try:

Gamershell UK working fine and fast
Ty.
Well just had a run through the demo, liked it a lot. Loved the first FEAR so I'm an easy sell. The atmosphere didn't seem to be there for me until midway through the first section. A few moments in there made me jump, though it is always easier to make people jump than it is to frighten or scare... The graphics update works well, like the particulates floating about. Controls are fine, though I couldn't map duck/crouch to one of the extra buttons on the G9. Sound is great as usual for a FEAR game. Suffice to say my pre-order has been made.

It's on gameupdates now for those who want a torrent http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=3234
I'll probably wait until tomorrow to get it so the rush has died down.

Pretty much like above. I'm a bit of a graphics whore, so I'll talk a bit about that. The game is fixed at 16:9, even at 16:10 resolutions, which makes sense, as its a port, and for me, the engine seemed to be better at specific effects opposed to makin the game world look great - Trying to explain this properly but its tougher than I thought- read on (Oh btw, all comments below relate to 1920x1200 with everything on or maximum and 4xAA 8xAF)
Anyway, there is good use of HDR and bloom, shadows are implemented well, as would be expected for a game in this genre, where its pretty important, and the motion blur works well and produces a good effect during intense firefights. Theres also a nice film grain effect (Like in Mass Effect and er... films) which is noticable. The textures
I was a little bit disapointed with the implementation of the slowmo effect in the game. In the first, it was highly stylised, with quite a marked change in colour tone and edge enhancement - like it was emphasising that in your heightened state you could pinpoint anything. This time, although there is a slight change in colour tone it just didnt really make me feel any different, but just made me move quicker.
As stated above there are really good particle effects and most of the surroundings can kick up bit and pieces when shot. The biggest gripe that I have is that although all the things mentioned above are implemented well, the world itself still seems to be fairly basic which was something that was levelled at the first game. It like the geometry of the game has remained the same as from the first, but just been made to look really really pretty. I guess its only one level, but maybe I was expecting more.
The game itself runs really well, even with everything on (see rig to left) and this makes the grunt gun fights really nice - with plenty of gibs showing etc. Still love it after all these years.
The demo seems to mix 2 distinct set pieces/sections battle with grunts/jumpy bits. I would have to say that the jumpy bit are done much better and are really stylised and creepy, lots of depth of field, blurring, distortion etc and it would be good to see if they combine the two at the same time in the retail levels.
But all in all, impressed. Looks (Relatively) good. Runs good. Sounds great (5.1 rules!!!). Still jumpy. Plays ok. I can forgive the console-ness (Look out for the worlds worst PDA screen - just for those couch-sitters) because it seems like its been updated enough to warrant purchase. Just hope that its not just fight humans, watch creepy bit, fight humans, watch creepy bit, all the way through...
Just my 2 cents (well, in the end it about $1) but yep, looking to preorder it now.
Oh - there is a mech stompy thing bit (as shown in the videos, so not a spoiler?) but dunno, didnt like it, felt out of place IMO.
Anyone tried the 360 version yet?
Just got it installed but the sound is all distorted, I can hear stuff but it's definitely not right... gonna try a re-install.
Edit: Damn, made no difference, any ideas? Hoping it's not a corrupted download, would be pretty strange since everything else other than sound works fine.
Edit2: Ahh, got it working now, had to disable some audio codecs causing problems.
