Was chatting about this in the car this morning. Are there any games which stick out in your mind as having particularly good or bad endings? And for the purposes of this, the "ending" covers the entire "end of game" bit (e.g. including a final boss fight), not just a final cut scene
Pick one good one and one bad one.
I'll start
Bad: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. If memory serves, the final level involves blowing up a chemical weapons plant of some kind. You succeed in your task, leg it out as fast as possible, jump onto a train, and... "well done", fade to black, roll credits. Lame.
Good: Super Metroid. I don't want to give this one away, but from the moment you start down a corridor which looks curiously similar to one from Metroid 1, you're in for a treat of epic proportions

I guess we're expected to do quite well
Episode 2 is right up there as well - massive battle, cinematics, plot, all near perfect. I get the feeling Episode 3 will also build to a fantastic climax when it finally arrives.
