How well will Far Cry 2 run on my system?

    hello,

I'm looking at buying Far Cry 2 for the PC. One of the things that attracted me to the game is the incredible visuals and physics involved in the game. However, will my system be able to run the game at max detail settings, with a decent frame rate (taking into account graphically-intensive scenes such as explosions/fire etc etc)?

    Thanks!

Doubt it will run MAX settings but it should still look really nice! I woulndt even expect my machine to run it on max settings tbqh

I was looking to buy this the other day but i cudnt find a single store in the centre of manchester with it... devastated

Will have to order from play at some point but i got L4D instead which is pretty awesome tbf!

I was very surprised with this one. One of the very good things about multi platform games.
My DX9 machine runs it okay, well, it looks bloody lovely. And that's on high settings.
I'm not sure how it runs if there is DX10 settings though. By the looks of your system it looks like it would run well.

It's one of those games doesn't need a really a powerfull rig to look and play great. just like Fallout 3

Far Cry is a good Game but the driving around from mission to mission can become a pain, graphically it is stunning.

You'll be playing it on Max. Installed it on a budget dual core, X1950XT (2 generations old) and it still played fine

Re: How well will Far Cry 2 run on my system?

All depends what frame rate you class as playable tbh, i dont liek having under 60FPS. There is no way you will get more than 30-40FPS average if you have AA and AF cranked up

Re: How well will Far Cry 2 run on my system?

    hello,

    Thanks for the advice!

I received the game this morning, and I have found that I can indeed run the game pretty well with all the settings maxed out. There are some objects here and there that take a while to load though.

However, I do have a problem. On the back of the DVD case it states I will require approx. 12 GB of hard drive space. When I installed it, it said only 6GB was required. Further, when I checked the far cry 2 folder on my hard drive, it was only 3GB in size. What is wrong here?

Swap files that you cant see the space they take up.

Re: How well will Far Cry 2 run on my system?

    hello,

I've found when playing the game that it can start to stutter a little when I pan the view around, especially when driving. Will turning off Vsync help fix this?

    Thanks!

    I would have thought so...

It must have taken longer to type the post than to try it for yourself
