The 'ZOMG Street Fighter IV Is Out Is A Coupla Days' Thread!

So peeps, are you getting it, are you splashing out on one of those flash fight sticks?

Personally, I had a TE fightstick on pre-order at Amazon, but £150 is a lot of money, so I cancelled it, and I'm just gonna get the game (pre-ordered ages ago) and take it from there.

If it's crap (unlikely) I've not wasted much, if it's good I'll get one of those £35 special pads, and if it's the beezles neezles, I might get one of the £60 Fightsticks.

So yeah, are you getting it or what like?!

I was thinking that, but STIV is in a different league to most of them, going on the reviews, and the main one I had my eye on - Halo Wars, I played the demo and it wasn't as good as I was expecting, by a long chalk.

I will be getting it at some point but on release I won't. Playing the SF2 THD from the arcade, playing it on the 360 controller is a nightmare as it doesn't register movements correctly. The tournament sticks for SF4 are close to £140 which is the only way to play SF personally. I used to have an old one for the PS2 which was a dream. Will wait till I can get a bargain on the tournament edition joystick as I wouldn't touch the madcatz ones with a barge pole. There are already reports of the madcatz cheaper joystick crapping out already.

I don't think you will need a £140 stick mate, the £60 will be more than you need unless you are a pro level gamer. It is certainly not 'the only way to play' as a tiny % of people will pay £150 for a stick. Although I might be one of them one I've had some time with the game.

Also not sure what you mean by 'waiting for a bargain on the TE because you wont touch a Madcatz'... you do know the TE stick is a Madcatz?

As I said in my post I will not touch a MadCatz controller, period. Far to many in the past have gone the way of the dodo. Their £60 sticks have already been returned by people due to them breaking. Street Fighter has to be played on a stick personally. The xbox pads just don't register correctly, this is also the issue on the £60 madcatz stick. Google it you will find report after report about the crap quality of the cheap sticks and the 6 button pads

The tournament stick's are made with shinawa parts which means proper arcade switches and buttons. The standard stick is made from normal parts hence the issue's with em. So far the cheap sticks have mass reports already on madcatz support forums and plenty US game forums about the madcatz joystick not registering joystick movements and buttons sticking and not releasing correctly.

Well the TE stick is a Madcatz, but I see what you mean.

Links to the stories of the £60 sticks going wrong? I've not been looking for any.

Still if you think you need to spend £150, be my guest. As I said, I had one of these pre-ordered on Amazon, and just cancelled yesterday - can't spend £150 on a stick for a game I've not yet played.

It's Sanwa parts as well, I think, not Shinawa.

That was my point it's Shinawa parts, not madcatz parts mixed and matched with standard controller parts

Re: The 'ZOMG Street Fighter IV Is Out Is A Coupla Days' Thread!

They have changed the controls on SF4 so that it works better with the standard 360 pad (good news for those of us that hate sticks). U dont have to be as accurate as u used to be on the SNES apprently with a bit of practice most players can pull of Zangiefs spinning piledriver on a reasonably regular basis. They wanted the specials to be a bit more all inclusive rather than for the elite only. Im getting it - but gunna wait till it drops a bit in price.

    Permanently confused

no one on here (as far as i know) has played it yet so you dont know whether its best played with a stick or not, granted, the original games were but this could be completely different.

Will have to wait for the demo to test this and see what happens.

The street fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix was and is a nightmare on the standard 360 controller, half the time it doesn't register the directional presses on the D pad

Couple of sites IGN and Edge have reviews up now and one of them seems to agree that specials are easier to pull off - i spose it depends how good you are in the 1st place. Not long to wait.

I tried an old wired controller and that seemed to work better than the wireless controller. Anyone know when the Demo is due as the game is out on Friday isn't it?

    EDIT:

Is it worth getting the collectors edition. Not bothered about the movie or the figures, just wondering what this "exclusive" downloadable content is?

Re: The 'ZOMG Street Fighter IV Is Out Is A Coupla Days' Thread!

Well the SNES pad was perfect for the moves, I hardly ever missed one. A SNES pad would be a dream.

The standard 360 pad is a bit dodgy for XBLA Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo Remix though.

I have my eye on the £35 fight pads. Hopefully they work well enough for the price - I'm a pad gamer, not a stick - 99.9% of my time with Street Fighter has been on a pad, with a tiny % on a stick in the arcade, so a good solid pad, like the fight pads will be (hopefully) should be good for us console gamers who want the moves to work but CBA getting used to a stick.

The DLC for STIV will be in the shape of different costumes for the fighters, released in various packs.

5 characters per pack, released a few weeks apart.

The exclusive DLC is simply 5 of these costumes, probably the first pack, and the bonus is you get it a few weeks before others can buy it on XBL. I can't see it being something completely exclusive to the collectors edition.

So it's pointless then, cheers for letting me know, will just get the standard version
