If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

I sincerely hope this thread won't get kicked to the gaming forum as I am sure that a lot of those who post here also game a fair amount... (but if the mods want it that way, who am I to complain right )

I've got GOW2, and loved it. Not had time to give the single player a second spin (yet) but of the most recent titles (L4D, RE5 etc) - which tbh I have not been able to keep a track of, much, would you recommend?

It would be nice if you could suggest a few on varying categories, i.e. action/strategy, horror, tactical shooting, and fighters.

May be the most recent street fighter or soul calibre ?

    Thanks!
    Mike

Re: If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is awesome, just picked up DoA 4 also which is pretty cool but been out for a good while now.

If you want something that gives you loads of playability for your money you can't go wrong with Mass Effect. Do all the side quests as well as main missions it will take a good while to get through it. Its more of a 3rd person shooter with RPG elements.

Then you have Oblivion and its expansions which is available in a full set in the GOTY edition. Once again, loads of hours playability for the price. Depends if you are into fantasy type stuff though. Personally love it and done every last thing I possibly could on it, over 200 hours of play and that was fast travelling everywhere.

If you want something more Sci Fi then Fallout 3 is very similar to Oblivion in the way it plays but with an apocalyptic type setting. Not forgetting there is downloadable content for it now. Operation Anchorage is not supposed to be very good but The Pitt is supposed to be excellent. Also when the next DLC is released you can cary on playing after endgame.

Re: If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

Street Fighter 4 for me as well for a "pick up and play" fighting game.

However, I would really recommend Rock Band 2 for the sheer amount of time you actually get out of this game. I am constantly going back to this game all the time when I've got a few hours to kill when I get in from work before the girlfriend gets in and this is without spending a penny on the DLC to improve the range of songs in Rock Band.

FALLOUT 3. Stunning. No other RPG like it. Ghouls and slavers, genious. Despite the flaws it is huge and sucks you IN. Seeing everything in this game will take you forever. I cannot stop playing it. I buy a new game and simply end up going back to Fallout 3. It is love

Re: If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

Does it matter if they are recent or not?!!

If they havn't been played previously, well worth picking up. Thats what I usually tend to do and have discovered some great games on things like 2 for £20.

Either way, if you are wanting games it is always worthwhile picking up back catalogue stuff that you were in two minds about when released. Dirt cheap and build your collection up, win, win situation!!!!

Re: If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

    Well out of all the games I have access to via friends and family here's the 5 I play the most ;

    1) Rock Band 2
    2) Tiger Woods PGA Golf 09
    3) Street Fighter 4
    4) Fifa 09
    5) CoD 4

However, I prefer the 360 for sport, driving or other style games as FPS games with a joypad just don't feel right after using wasd (or in my case the arrows and the 6 buttons above them) and a mouse for many many years

If you have not tried it already, I can't recommend Dead Space enough. I was very impressed with it, especially as it comes from EA.

Yeah I second Dead Space. Works so well on the consoles. I have it for PS3 and love it. First hour or two of gameplay is backwards and forwards getting the ship up and running again and can be a little tedious. But afterwards its onwards and finding out what exactly has happened.

Its like Res Evil meets Event Horizon (Deja Vu there, mentioned it in the same way in another thread!!! )

Cool Fancy a trip down here, Lee?

For games, it really depends on what genres you like. I recommend Resi 5 also, it is indeed a good game.

Re: If you had to get only one new 360 game, which would it be?

Dead Space and Fallout 3 were two of the best amongst 2008's Q4 releases in my opinion and well worth going back to

As far as more recent releases go L4D is brilliant if you've got people to play it with that will actually play as a team not so much fun on your own though, I've been playing quite a bit of FEAR 2 recently, it's a pretty good shooter, it doesn't make the earth move or anything but it controls nicely and looks very good especially when the paranormal effects kick in.
