PC for me. I was never allowed a console as a kid, and I think as a consequence I really am not much good with the little thumb joysticks. Give me a mouse any day!
The thing about all the PC votes is..... just how ****ty are all the console ports these days? You might be able to run games in 2560x1600, but it's SUCH a chore to get things to even work sometimes. At least consoles JustWork(tm), as far as cross-platform content goes. PC exclusives obviously demand a PC
I must admit, recently I have taken the same approach. I was a massive PC gamer but then a few years back all my friends I played online with jumped to either PS3's or Xbox's. I bought myself a 360 at Christmas and ever since I have played on that 99% of the time from everything to racing, fighting, platformers and FPS games. I use the PC a lot more these days for working on instead of gaming.
As Joe has said, the majority of the games hitting the PC are console ports so they look or play no better than their console counterparts. The only thing the PC is used for these days gaming wise is Eve Online and then a few indie games such as World of Goo, Peggles, Darwinia, Dawn of War one and two.
The PC I built (as in my system specs) was built for gaming in mind, then a serious lack of PC Games hit the market that I actually wanted to play so moved to the Xbox and now I am on all sorts of games playing online with my friends again.
Next time around I will be buying a PC/Laptop purely for virtualisation, work and general mass storage and pump the money into something a little better for my needs these days and stick to the consoles in future if things keep going the way they are with the pc being under a constant barrage of console ports.
As for gaming on the move I use the Nintendo DS, used to be a huge sega/nintendo gamer but since the GameCube the Wii just hasn't had the games on it to make me want to buy one and Sega are no more in the console world, hardware wise.
In future I think the PC will be used for the Indie games as personally these offer much more in the way of gameplay than the usual rehashes coming from the big dev studios and publishers. For me, gameplay and story is the most important factor over the graphics, no point in playing a game because it looks good when you would have more fun watching paint dry; Darwinia is a good example of this for me and World of Goo currently.
I have to agree part of the PC Gaming is getting it to run in the first place, the amount of hassle I had getting DoW2 to run was madness. Even though in the end I got it up and running, the glitches I have come across at present are enough to make me leave the game alone for now until a few more patches land. I used to be in the camp of "consoles are not good for FPS" but over time I am slowly becoming used to using the control pad for aiming and shooting etc and it's not that big a hassle any more to move over from the PC.
Personally though there isn't a be all and end all of which platform is the best, if the games on any platform warrant a purchase that's all that matters.

I'm a 360 man myself, I like my FPS and JRPGs, although no doubt I'd be more into PC gaming if my PC wasn't so outdated, hopefully rectified soon.
Depends what im playing. I've always been and will probably always will be a fan of Nintendo, been a fan since the NES, although i love playing on the Wii, these days i spend most of my time playing games on the pc, plus i play odd game on Xbox.
Sports/Racer games - normally console
FPS - PC all the way, i've played some on console but hated it
Q6600 G0 @ 3.44ghz, Asus P5k Premium WiFi
4gb XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500, Asus Radeon HD 5770
LG GGC-H20L BD\HD DVD + 3 DVD Drives, Seagate 500gb
WD 500gb + 1tb, WinTV-HVR1300, BenQ E2200HD
One thing the PC trumps all on is the mod scene - I have got so much playtime from Half-Life 2 with various singleplayer/multiplayer mods.

I never had any console, so I am a PC gamer at heart. I am slowly converting this PC to gaming and using my laptop for everything else, but it only has a 80gb harddrive at the moment, so I'll have to wait until I get a new one so I can make this a solid gaming PC, as much as it can be with mainly stock components from Dell. I upgraded the GFX card, that is it. It was pretty good when I bought it 2 years ago apart from the processor, but it runs GTA IV fine.
I am definitely a PC gamer - love the controls (maybe that's just from so much use!), find them the most intuitive way of playing. That said, I don't have a wii.
Over the years I've probably spent the same £/year as a console owner upgrading to each new console to play the latest games on my PC, it's doable, you just have to realise you can have as much fun in GTA IV on a £500 PC as you can on a £2000 PC, it just won't look as "pretty".
Having said that, my last "upgrade" was forced, new motherboard, graphics card and PSU (all 3 for about £170). That's all I've spent in the past year (and I only spent £100 in the previous 2 years to that). A PS3 or Xbox 360 cost considerably more when they first came out and can do considerably less.
PC all the way from me too. The latest console I bought was a PS2 with my flatmate that I only use for watching DVD's now...
Oh, and for all those people saying "can't play xx game with a keyboard & mouse", you do know that PC's have controllers too?
I spose it depends what genre of games you play most really. Personally i do not play any "console ports" on the pc, just seems pointless, just like trying to play say M+K games made for the pc on a console.
Personally voted PC and PS3.
PC for mmo/strat/fps games (just cant beat M+K imo)
and
PS3 for the (beat em/shoot em ups/sports etc)
The first platform that got me love with gaming was the PC and the Sega Dreamcast.
However since Sega are practically finished , I would have to go with the PC and PS3. The pc is great for Strategy/RPG/Action/Online gaming, etc. And the PS3 more so for fighting/sport games + the occasional RPG.
Pc, as mentioned by others tis all i have nowadays, used to have a PS2 but sold that as it rarely ever got used. Almost bought a PS3 for its bluray capabilities but in the end got a bluray drive for my media centre pc.
Also having consoles means having another "box" and the necessity to have a decent sized TV to play the games on. So many people I have known have bought a widescreen LCD TV and surround system so that they can play the games in HD plus extra accessories too. Many also own at least two different consoles too. The consoles games cost more than their PC versions generally and the PC games drop in price quicker too!!
By the time you add up the cost of multiple consoles, the widescreen TV,sound system, accessories and the increased cost of the consoles games in the first place it is actually not that cheap TBH!!
In fact with even an el-cheapo Dell desktop for under £350 you will get 2gb to 4gb of RAM and a 2.5ghz+ processor and a 250gb+ hard drive. You can buy plenty of cheap graphics cards for under £80 to £100 too. This has been the case for years.
Basically you can modify a basic PC for gaming with a budget of around £200 to £300 over three to four years if you play the latest games. You just upgrade slightly behind the hardware curve and you will always get good bargains TBH!
If you enjoy older games or games which require less modern hardware then you can even spend less. Games like COD4,Bioshock, FEAR 2 don't need uber computers to play on. I could play the games on an x1900gt from late 2006 which cost under £100 at 1280x800 and higher with medium settings.
A modern card like an HD4830 costs £75 and is a few times more powerful than an x1900gt . My HD4830 will be OK for general gaming for at least another year.
People think that all PC games are like Crysis for example. TBH there have been games like the original Unreal a decade ago which pushed the hardware. These games exist to show what is possible with the technology. However most games do not need such steep requirements though. Also you can always turn down the settings as a good game is not necessarily all about how brilliant the graphics is!!

I use my PC for my beloved Football Manager & a few others.
A 360 because it's the best tool for serious family gaming & the range of games available.
The Wii because its great for a laugh when friends come round..although i still think it's too cutesy.
My old Amiga when i'm feeling nostalgic..The Bitmap Brothers should have been knighted years ago..."Node Activated"...aaah, quality.
