Completely unhelpful to you flying tonight...but I saw this post and got quite excited because I just bought IL-2 1946 from GOG.
Been patching and finding lots of great web resources to read and learn. Good to see people still flying...

    Re: IL2 Flying Tonight?

I keep seeing this on steam... What is IL2 like? do you need a proper flight stick or anything like that to play it properly?

    Re: IL2 Flying Tonight?

I'd have said a stick is essential. I noticed in the configuration files (conveniently called conf.ini) there is an arcade mode setting...dunno if that changes things so it would be easier without a stick? but you can change the settings in game anyway to make it easier.

Certainly to get the most out of it, a stick is required. I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo, which works well.

I would be intrested in this. Been ages since playing online. I bought the steam variant a while back, will it still involve hyperlobby or has it moved on from that?

I'm on 4.08m, cos I see plenty of servers with it, and never bothered with the later version.
