    GAME Trade In Thingy.

Has anyone traded in any hardware at a GAME store? Thinking of taking my Wii and games to the local GAME store tomorrow, was wondering how competitive their offer would be?

Also, how much lower would their cash offer be, compared to their store credit offer?

I did have a look on the site, but they tell you everything apart from what you actually want to know - how much. Surely it's a pretty standard price, for a mint Wii, mint 360, etc. Wouldn't be that hard to put a ball park figure on the site.

So, anyone used it, know someone who has used it, and can remember how much moolah you got?

    Cheers.

Wii is £75 trade in or £70 cash according to the leaflet I've got here. You'll get barely anything for all but the newest games though, I got £4 each for some 360 games which they were then selling for £30

Store trade ins are rarely a good deal for consumers in any way shape or form. They give you next to nothing and then sell the games for only a tiny bit less than what it retails for. I would suggest using ebay, you're more likely to get a better sale for it. A couple of online retailers also have their own trade in system like shopto.net, but for the most part totally not worth it (and also what shopto allow you to trade in is pretty limited).

Sorry to go off topic, but didn't you only get your Wii a couple months ago? Why do you want to get rid of it so soon?

I did. Got it at Xmas.

Just not using it really, my retro consoles are already giving me what the VC gives me, and apart from the Mario and Zelda games, I'm not that interested in much else.

So I thought I'd get rid while it's still shiny and new.

CEX offer much higher values for items i've found, if you have one near you of course. I laughed when I saw what GAME were offering for some of my 360 games & what they were then selling them on for.

Your better off putting it in your local paper, most of them do free adverts upto a certain price point, my local one is £100, if you want more you can split the games from the consoles and do 2 or 3 ads, it wont get the coverage of websites but someone will call no doubt if you price it well.

trade in at Gamestation, normally trade in price is higher, and they also price match, if you get a printout from game saying 28 trade for example and gamestation is 26 they will go up to 29.

To confirm this is trade-in only prices not cash, I slipped up on that one once

It's not managers choice - Games have 2 different prices scanned on the till for cash and trade in. Even managers can't change this

Agreed..take it to Gamestation - GAME are absolutely useless for trade ins, they pay so little in comparison to Gamestation..when i got rid of my wii a few weeks ago Gamestation offered me £50 more for the bundle of hardware/games than Game would do..and I didn't even have to ask them to beat GAME's offer.

If you have a HMV near you its also worth giving them a try..They are doing trade in now I think and last I heard they were paying stupid prices...over £10 trade in value for "resistance: Fall of man" on PS3 (compared to £2 from gamestation lol)

Have you got a local games store near you? If you have take it there to see what they'd offer before plumping for Game or Gamestation.

I traded a load of games at Gamestation recently and got about £30 for them all, except they wouldn't take one DS game because it was an American import. I took the American import to a local independent games shop and they game me £20 for it.

I wish I'd took the rest to the same shop now.
