    Crysis Very Boring game?!

I tried Crysis for the 1st time, but after playing it for 1-2 levels I got so bored and couldn’t be bothered going through the rest of the game (even if I enabled God mode!)
I found the gameplay very lacking, the battles with the Koreans dull and and the story line very reparative & uninspired.

Seriously, does the game improve any more when the battles with the Aliens take place later on, or is it so boring all the way to the end and a waste of time?

A few years back I had tried Far Cry but similarly I got very bored and didn’t bother finishing it (I did play for a bit longer though, up to level 5-6)

Is it just me, or is Crytek just good for graphics showcases and nothing more?
Their games feel more like benchmarks and are full of bugs!

    Re: Crysis Very Boring game?!

the sneaking around whilst being cloaked was the most boring part of the game for me. i think a lot of other people found it more annoying than boring but i could be wrong. fighting the Koreans was the best part to the game, so if you don't like that then there's probably not much point in playing further into the game as the aliens aren't as good. I agree that Crytek, as with most devs, have focused all their time & energy into aesthetics and spent a small amount of time on game play. still i had quite a lot of fun approaching situations the game presents you with in different ways, much in the same way FC2 lets you

The best part is finding small areas with houses in and just destroying everything you can, and then throwing turtles at people.

haha yeah that's true. my favourite was always sneaking into a camp or somewhere where there are a few Koreans, picking him up by his throat and running away as fast as i can to hurl/punch him off a cliff. repeat these steps until there's no one left!

I liked the sneaking up on people, then quickly going to strength mode and punching them, or grabbing them and throwing them. Gameplay is great, so many options of approaching a situation, some firefights can be quite intense. As for story, well, I never approached the game considering much about the story, it has a backstory, and it'll do - if you want story, play an RPG or adventure game, that's what I do. Boring? No chance. Not unless you don't like FPS games anyway!

I loved Far Cry, but found Crysis to be incredibly boring. Something about it just misses the spot completely, I found myself overcome with ennui whenever I started it up, and I would quickly think of something better to do with my time instead. Even Minesweeper holds my attention longer

They are, as for the bugs I never found any. Yes it gets more boring as you go along, didn't find it fun at all just a grind. Hopefully another game company will use the engine to make a more interesting game. Get yourself CoD4 if you want a great single player game (multiplayer is fun also ).

    Re: Crysis Very Boring game?!

I found it boring because I didn't like the gameplay and the storyline & atmposphere sucked (Yes gameplay, plot and story line are very important in my book)

in that aspect, here are some immensly superior FPS to Crysis imo:

    Aliens Vs Predator II (PC)
    Alien Breed 3D I (AMIGA)
    Dark Forces – Starwars (PC)
    Descent (PC)
    Doom (PC)
    Doom II (PC)
    Doom 3 (PC)
    Duke Nukem 3D (PC)
    Half Life 2 (PC)
    Heretic (PC)
    Hexen (PC)
Hexen - Death Kings of The Dark Citadel (PC)
    Hexen II (PC)
Hexen II - Portal of Praevus (PC)
    Unreal (PC)

ive played all of those except alien breed 3d ( i dont think my a500 would cope too well with it ) and i would say its a good list EXCEPT for dark forces, its a terrible game!

    Re: Crysis Very Boring game?!

weird I thought the storyline was epic or am I just an action freak especially the first Crysis, warhead was just crap lol.

The gameplay can be good depends on how you play it and what differculty you're on...

The original Farcry was great too the fact that im still playing it is just proof!

I found Farcry 2 to be more of a grind but when you get into it its pretty good..

Alien Breed 3D is an excellent game with awesome gameplay & atmosphere that rivalled even Doom in that department! It should work fine on a A1200 68030 4MB, probably even on a stock A1200, 68020 2MB, provided that some of the gfx settings are lowered. But I'm not sure if it will work at all on a basic A500 68000 1MB

Biut that's nothing WinUAE emu can't handle...

The 2nd Alien Breed 3D had much better graphics, and even featured some advanced lighting effects and lens flares not seen even in Quake 1 & 2, but the gameplay was not as good.

Dark Forces is probably the worse FPS in this list, but it’s the best Star Wars based game on any system that I’ve played, as far as gameplay, story line / plot, level layout & weapons.

Everything else I’ve tried that revolves around the Star Wars Universe was horrible and bored me to death. I couldn’t bother playing any more than 4-5 levels, without enabling cheats just to see the endings

    Some of the worse imo:

    Star Wars Series (SNES) (1993-1995)
Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire (PC) (1996)
Star Wars Dark Forces II (PC) (1997)
Star Wars Rogue Squadron (PC) (1998)
Star Wars: Episode I Racer (PC) (1999)
Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace (PC) (1999)
Star Wars: Racer Arcade (Arcade) (2000)

And some other nameless, obscure, Star Wars turned based 3rd person action/adventure (where you could perform some unrealistic light-saber combos) that I was unfortunate to play at a friend's house 3-4 of years ago. I was horrid!

Star Wars Rebel Assault 1 & 2 were quite good though. But that’s probably due to the fact that I’m a shmup fan

KOTOR was excellent. And for a shooter I enjoyed Jedi Knight II.

    KOTOR?
Never heard of that, is it for the PC?

When was Jedi Knight II released? Is it a FPS? Or a turned based 3rd person shooter?

    Re: Crysis Very Boring game?!

The only thing I liked about Crysis is the box cover. The suit looks pretty cool.

But I take it it's not worth spending 15Euros they're asking for at my local stores, just to have this box cover on the self?
What about a wallpapers / flyer? Do they sell them some where?

    Thanks in advance.
