    Transferring Save Data on Steam

Is this as easy as just copying the savegame and profile files over generally speaking?

I know individual games can be more complicated, just checking if the Steam software itself stops you from moving files into its folders. Don't want to screw up any installations considering how long it took to download all of the games last time.

Re: Transferring Save Data on Steam

I know you can backup game files within Steam and by manually copying the root folder yourself. I haven't tried it, but considering that save data is usually within the game folder, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Do you want to copy just the save or all the game files?

No, just saves. I had this crazy idea that Steam might do that automatically, but internet distribution continues to disappoint me.

It's getting there - some games transfer saves, as is the case with Games for Windows Live.
