Would do you guys think of this? It is going to be a racing sim rather then arcade, looks very good from the trailer.

The movement of the cars in relation to the steering wheel changes looks terrible.
But hopefully that'll all be sorted out in testing - they need to get the handling of this right, at the moment it looks like it handles like Grid.
And damage?
It can't be any worse than prostreet. Grid on the other hand was a fantastic game. What was wrong with the handling in Grid?

Sorry, but I don't subscribe to the idea that all computer games have to be exactly the same brand of ridiculous handling. I enjoy arcade games like Burnout paradise, but there's enough of them already. I also enjoy more realistic games like GTR:Evolution, and there aren't enough of them - and the racing is more fun than in the arcady games.
There's certainly not enough decent racing sims out there, but i don't think that the clips and info so far would seem to imply that it's a proper sim.
Almost certainly a new take on an old theme. I expect that will come clear later on, but you would feel if they've changed the gameplay they'd probably change the name as the nfs francise although profitable isn't that well thought of.
I'm a little more looking foward the rfactor 2.
You should read what they're trying to imply - they tried to brag about how the studio contains some people that worked on GTR2, only they put it in a way that gave the impression that it was exactly the same studio, which SimBin took rather strong exception too.
Now it says something like:
"Developed by Slightly Mad Studios, a team that includes developers and designers from the critically acclaimed GT Legends and GTR2 games collaborating with Michael Mann (executive producer at Black Box) and Patrick Soderlund (senior Vice President of EA Games)."
which is more accurate.
Earlier press releases also said something about it being a completely realistic, physics simulatory etc. type game. They seem to have backed off that again recently, now concentrating on 'the emotions race drivers go through'
Urgh.. it's worse than I thought actually.
Q:Will there be drifting
A:Yes

*shrugs* The scope of a game often changes during development. What's odd about this one is that there's another NFS game coming out (Nitro) that's meant to cater to the drifting/modding type crowd, leaving this one for the racing. Just found some points from the earlier release:
"
* Physics model of NFS: Shift is based on those of “Ferrari Project”
* Professional setting is more accurate to drive than in GTR2
* Eero Piitulainen of Richard Burns Rally has developed totally new tyre-physics model which is mainly responsible for new physics
* Difference between 3 physics-models is in assist levels, while lowest setting will provide around 10% of more tyre grip for beginners
* Lots of efforts has gone into handling development so the game can be driven with controller
* Professional setting will require wheel in order to successfully manage throttle/braking and steering inputs
* Shift will feature different car classes - from Golf GTI up to Zonda F
* All cars can be upgraded and tuned from inside-out
* Most tracks are licensed European and American circuits with few non-existing tracks
* There will be few city-circuits
* Cockpit is the most important visual feature of the game
* Head-physics is the key difference point to other titles
"
But they probably saw the success of something like Grid compared to the SimBin games and decided to keep a finger in that pie with this game as well.
The car types and the fact there tunable from inside-out doesn't seem to follow with a sim. Sounds more like forza/gran tourismo type of game. As good as they were they wern't sims.
Head physics aswell, saying it's a key difference point to other titles means there almost certainly not aiming at the sim market, it's in rfactor which is one of the more popular sims and quite old now to.
Mabee looking more promising than previous titles though..................
Yup certainly, and I'd settle for a forza/gt type game as we don't have much like that on the PC. But if the handling's like Grid then I won't be happy.
The earlier statement about it being more accurate than GTR2 is promising, but depends what they mean by accurate I guess.
