    Microsoft Rage

Ok had my xbox 360 for couple of years now and always loved the console, recently got a wireless adapter for it and thought id try live, i share a room with 2 brothers and i thought itd be good to play online together.... then i find out you need a subscription each....

how can they justify me paying £120 a year for 3 people just to play online.....

Im buying a ps3 next week for free online ... no more Xbox for me.

I agree you pay around £40 per game and they still want a monthly subscription charge for the online service. Typical Microsoft wanting to milk as much money from people as they can.

Anyone who pays for LIVE monthly or £40 a year are idiots and shouldn't be let anywhere near LIVE. Enough idiots on there already, no need for more.

LIVE has always been a payed for service on the Xbox. Next time i suggest a little bit of research would be better.

Also we have a gaming section that this should be in. Not in general thanks.

I think any form of gaming that wants more than the amount you pay for the game is ridiculous. I don't know how they can justify subscriptions, i would never pay a monthly gaming fee.

Justifying them is easy: Subscription based games are normally very different to stand alone single player / small scale multiplayer ones.

Something like Eve or WoW could never survive on a single sale price.

Believe me i used to think the same, i used to call it a waste of money and anyone who did pay monthly subs was a geek. Then i got onto the WOW beta, i haven't looked back. Some of the best gaming moments i've ever had, and along the way i've made some new friends from across europe.

Same goes for Xbox LIVE, i play with a great bunch of people, from Ireland, USA and New Zealand, it makes a big difference when you are playing with friends. Don't bash something until you've given it a proper go. Plus subs are here to stay, more games will go this route. Only issue i have with LIVE is that we don't get hosted games unlike PSN.

    Re: Microsoft Rage

Could have all just used the same profile?
Aswell as what was previously stated, you can sign in a guest to play online with you for free.

Personally I think it's well worth the money for what you get,
I pay around £25 a year for my subscription and I can't fault it.

Comparing it with the PS3 service is pointless, yes it's free..
But it's not entirely up to par with what Microsoft is pushing out.

Plus there's some fairly exciting things getting set to hit Xbox Live.

Edit: Just a note, this is my personal opinion based on use of each machine.
