Criterion Games working on a Need For Speed game wasn't the only surprising bit of news that Electronic Arts chief operating office John Pleasants tucked into his presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference I listened to today. Pleasants confirmed he's seen DICE's work on Battlefield 3.
"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product," he said. "Of course, that's not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."
Gamers worried that Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield 1943 were a three-pronged answer to fans demanding a third Battlefield don't have to worry. Battlefield 3 is coming!

Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
Looks promising - BF3 is what most fans are hoping for. Probably not until at least this time next year though if it's not going to be released this fiscal year.
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
Will it be on the original platform though? Dont put it on console, "fans" are pc players as bf2 was on pc along with the rest lol.
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
for me BF3 needs to take advantage of PC hardware. that means looking like crysis(by the time it comes out, many pc's can play crysis, people can play crysis in todays up to date machines).
i want at least 100 players as rumoured before and proper online lobbies. as you can see, these two features will be difficult to implement in the console version compared to the pc.
i remember BF2 looking brilliant at the time and really stress testing a lot of peoples rigs but that diddnt stop bf2 from being the best selling DICE game till this day
DICE have no limits or anything holding them back on the PC version of battlefield 3.
mark my words, if they make a good sequal, it will sell a crap load more then bad company 2.

Corrected for you :P I see no reason why we can't see these being implemented on the PS3, it doesn't have the limitations that MS's LIVE service has. Just take a look at MAG with its 256 player set-up. But having played plenty of large scale battles on BF1942 the more people the better (as long as the map can take it ofc)
Being honest this is not going to be on my watch list. But it does depend on what War/Countries BF3 will bring us. I don't want to see another Desert Combat, oops i meant BF2 game, WWII has been done too much, and the attempt at BF Vietnam was a bit shambolic (although the sound track was awesome :D) I do hope BF1943 is going to be good though in the meantime :)
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
haha yes i diddnt want to say that about the 360 as many may think im some kind of glorified ps3 fanboy but its true.
alot of multiplat games and exclusive 360 games only have around 8-16 players online.
have a look at some of the ps3 version such has COD4 catering for 18-20 players as a posed to only 16 in the 360 version, killzone 2 = 32 players and lets not forget resistance 2 = 60 players which is battlefield kind of numbers :)
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
I'd hope it would be pc exclusive but sadly I can see the pc version being an after thought
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
well if EA looked at sales from the sims 3 > http://kotaku.com/5284965/the-sims-3...uring-week-one
EA will quickly learn that if you make a good PC NONE DRM game, it will sell well. o and those sales ifgures are based on america only. i imagine the worldwide figure is close to, if not more then 2million
i dont think any of EA'S console games nevermind DICE'S console games selling any games that well.
Re: Dice working on battlefield 3?
This could be one of the best games ever made, or it could be Bad Company 3.
I'm going to place my faith in EA *gulp*.
