is doom 3 really out 16/04/04

seen a few threads elsewhere about a efw websites putting 16th april as the
release date but then the sites had to take the dates down but at play this
morning its still up as being released on the 16th does anyone know if it is or it isnt maybe i should just forget about it again lol

That was the last date we were given, and contrary to whats been said in the thread it is actually very close to completion, they've even finished a hefty ammount of the Xbox version.

It could well be released in April but you can bet that ID wont give much away until a week before release.

I think a realistic presumption is the summer. I can see carmack wanting it out before HL2 though.

thats just developer jargon for covering up the fact they're so busy implementing "easter-eggs" into the games that they've had to let the game slip a couple o' months or so...

this was seen with metal gear solid 2: sons of liberty, it was consecutivly delayed in the US and EU so that they could apply "differences" (quoted from one of the many press releases) to the versions...

Key:
easter-eggs = secret features i.e. secret rooms etc.
