cs:s "low" fps with new cpu & gfx

    hi all

im going to start by saying that i spend most of my time bunny hopping on css. this means that the fps im currently getting, 80+, isnt really good enough. as any bhoper will tell you hopping on 100 tick servers is a hell of a lot easyer than on a 66 tick 1, but if im @ 80ish fps, then i may aswell b on a 80 tick server because the pc will only send data to the server for the frames it renders.

ive got myself a e6700 (currently @ stock but p5b deluxe mobo, heatsink & good ram on the way ) and a HD4870. admittedly im running everything @ max (exept vertical sync which is off), but surely i should be hitting the 300s with this set up? or atleast sum improvement over my pentium D 3.2ghz & 7950gt?

im not sure what my question really is lol, why i supose? u if i cud get my C2D up to 3.x it would help?

Re: cs:s "low" fps with new cpu & gfx

    I also have a 4870 and at 1680x1050 I get 277 FPS in the CS:S stress test.

I upgraded to the 4870 from a 8800GT and everything was basically twice as fast and looked better.

If you've come from a P4 and 7950GT, it should be waaaay faster even with the CPU at stock speeds

this doesnt make me feel better

    EDIT

i did a stress test (1440 x 900) and didnt do that bad, over 200

    problem is on say dust2, i range from 80 - 150

i spose ill just have 2 drop the AA and stuff if i want 2 guarantee a min fps of 100
