Re: Favourite game of all time

There's a difference between my favourite game of all time and what I would choose if I could only play one game.

Favourite game of all time, ultimately is probably Planescape:Torment. I've enjoyed other games as much, but haven't been back to any of them (except possibly Ultima 7) as many times as PS:T. I've played it through at least twice just for fun, once making sure I did all the quests and got the bronze sphere, once again to do the candlestick quest and I'm highly likely to put on the Unfinished Business pack and do it again. Even now it still looks and sounds good. Ultima 7 is nice, but it does show its age.

If I had to choose one game to play forever, however, it would probably be Oblivion, or possibly Baldurs Gate 2. I've not played Oblivion for months and I'm not sure why - perhaps it is simply a bit *too* big. The quests are inventive, the interaction impressive and the graphics amazing. Also, both Oblivion and Baldurs Gate 2 have hundreds of mods. You could spend years playing it.

Re: Favourite game of all time

Spent over a rediculous amount of time playing frontier on the amiga. Became obsessed with it.
Also geoff crammonds grand prix was a close 2nd.
Speedball 2 and sensi soccer are probably the best 2 player games ever (nod to gravity wars aswell).
Can you guess I was an amiga nut back in the day?

I think Counterstrike is probably my favourite game of the last 10 years though, used to play it insecently. Lucky if I can game for an hour a week now (that's total gaming time, not counterstrike). Ah the joys of job and family...

So either frontier or counterstrike, can't choose 1.

I used to play Grand Prix 2 every chance I could, I barely touched any other games over a 4 year period from december 1996 to march 2001, which coincided with me getting another PC and starting to play other games alot more.

Re: Favourite game of all time

Evil Genius so tounge in cheek you have to love it. Thief deadly shadows is very good in fact I still have to play one of the levels in daylight with the sound turned down, im sure its scarier than most horror film that level.

TomHE if you loved freelancer a good successor to it is X3: Terran Conflict. Plot is awful but what sells it is the open universe and the amount of stuff you can do it. Its hard to get into it but once you do your love it.

I would probably agree with this quote from my own experiences. Speedball 2 had some great in-game tricks to rack up extra points against your opponent and Sensible Soccer had simple passing moves but great playability.

    BBC : Elite
    Spectrum : Manic Miner
    Amiga : Turrican
    PSone : Tekken 1,2,3
    PS2 : Tekken 4
    Xbox : Burnout 4
    Xbox 360 : Halo 3
    First PC : Diablo
    2nd PC: Everquest
    3rd PC : Everquest
4th PC : Ever..... ok WOW then
    Arcade : Street Fighter 2

To me there is no defining game or even genre, i never liked FPS games really till Halo 3 came along, and i love it, have around 6000 games played on it. I play WoW most days, have done for nearly 4 years, and I played Everquest for 7. I love beat em ups, but tend to get annoyed when they don't live up to SF2 or Tekken. I love racing games with carnage, like Carmageddon, Burnout, Chase HQ etc. I was never an RTS fan, but Starcraft changed that.

Manic Miner is the first game i mentioned, because apart from Through the wall on the speccy introduction tape, it was the first game i played, and i played it a lot

+1 for Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy. Happy Spectrum days.

On the PC it would have to be Dungeon Master.

Favourite game series has to be Championship Manager (Amiga) > Football Manager.

    Gamecube - Resi 4
    PS2 - ICO
    PS3 - Uncharted 2

Missed this thread the first time round...

Anyway, RA2 (and Yuri's Revenge), no question. Used to do loads of LAN play, albeit with just me and a mate or two, and the level editor was fantastic as well... unbeatable.
