Aliens Versus Predator - the original

finally got around to installing this game again, guess what, it has the well known problem of not being able to see a thing, the HUD works nothing else does (i did google first)

tried looking for the xp compatible patch, theres mention of it all over the place but i cant find a download link that isnt virus/keylogger ridden.

has anyone got a copy of the patch file they could e-mail me (post here first then i'll PM you) or even a safe link to download from?

    thanks in advance

    edit:

might aswell discuss the game in here aswell.

did anyone ever get all the bonuses for doing specfic things on the levels?
like kill the predator using the marine using only 1 round of ammo, 20 headbites for the alien, so on and so forth.

i'll post my results up once i get the game working. I still have my savegames from a decade ago on floppy disc - some of you wonder why theres still floppy support built onto the mobo, its for this reason : old savegames from old games

Sorry no patch here, but spooky co-incidence, I dusted off my Jaguar and played this at the weekend... Excellent game

Given that it's a fairly old game it might be that it's incompatible with multiple core processors, I've recently experienced some graphical issues with older games because of this.

You can try changing the programs affinity, just bring up task manager (ctrl alt del) and find the process you want, right click and select "affinity" set it to 1 core.

If that does not work then this will (it's what I had to do to get my old games working) right click "my computer" select "properties" then go to the "advanced" tab and "start up and recovery" click "settings" click the "edit" button and it should open a txt file, after the line that says "/fast detect" put a space and then type "/onecpu" restart your machine and it will be running on one core, when you are done make sure to remove the line you added and restart.

It's extremely quick and easy to do this so you should give it a try .

I found this very handy information
    http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/tech_...799417/p1/?115
I ran the myavp.exe as administator and now i'm back to hunting aliens with pulse rifles.

anyone else having problems, have a read of the linked site. it even tells you how to run the cd audio off the hard drive as .ogg files ingame.

No, I could never find one for a decent price at the time, probably a collectors item now, made the Jaguar look a bit too much like a toilet for me
