Looks like gt5 will have damage on all 1000 cars

After spending some hands-on time with the Gran Turismo 5 demo at the Tokyo Game Show, IGN editors got the chance to speak with a “Sony rep” who was able to clarify some of the questions about the differences in vehicular damage. Concerns were first raised when Yamauchi specifically mentioned “damage to racing cars”, leaving the door open to speculation that “street cars” in the game may not be so fragile. This notion was reinforced when only Subaru’s WRC rally car showed damage at GamesCom.

Now, at TGS, we may finally be catching a glimpse of what this secondary level of deconstruction actually looks like. As you can see, although body panels do not become detached, they do, to quote IGN editor Greg Miller, show “deformation damage — scratches and stuff”. Greg was also able to reaffirm that all cars will experience mechanical damage. While this is refreshing news, the question still remains: is Polyphony Digital restricted from showing “full” damage on street cars due to manufacturer licensing issues, or would it simply take too long to implement such severe deformation on GT5’s diverse catalog of nearly 1,000 vehicles? It would be a great direct question for an interview with Yamauchi-san, but I’m not going to hold my breath… Check out the video after the jump.

All thats needed in this game is teh following:

• GTR Evo type handling/physics
• Day, and night racing
• Dynamic weather effects
• at least 16 players for online play
• Create your own racing series with driver standings
• Practise, qualification and race sessions in one race like the F1
• Ability to create your own Track(Bonus)

was hugely tempted a while back to buy a ps3 for this alone, However now there is no way in hell this game can live up to the hype and delays (unless you get an actual Mclaren SLR free with the game) thats just my opinion though.

What delays? did PD themselves EVER stated a release date? as far as im aware, March 2010 is the first ever released date announced by PD

Wow, it's certainly living up to the eye candy hype that's for sure. Be interested to see if the pit crew is actually animated though, i might be right in thinking that a proper animated pit crew has never been done?
There's a full stationary pit crew with rfactor with an add on and in some of the mods like FSone 08, but that'd make be wanna do the endurance races alone (and buy a PS3 first)

Just hope it lives up to the hype in gameplay. Looking damn good though, nice screens

i didn't mean official delays i meant the general delay on release while there has only been one official release date alot of people expected it to come out shortly after the PS3 and then they bought out the prologue last year because even they realised they were taking forever.

It might come out on the PC? i made a thread about it about a rumour saying GT5 wont be the only platform it will come out on. that may just mean that gt5 will be on the psp go in other words.

It was being hyped before the PS3 launched......tempting people to buy one.

Here we are 3 years later, with only another year until release.

This looks great, how ever they really need to bring out the PSP version for the sake of it, or bin it.

That one was expected around the release of the original PSP... 2 PSP revisions, and 1 new model later, still nothing!

They should release it soon and just put anything else on DLC. they would make a killing that way. make it so that the engine itself is dynamic ie they can add features and game modes easily to it using DLC.

PSP version is already out on the USA i think or about to be released. reviews are out thats for sure plus if you think those pics gave you a boner, these ones may make you "pop"

Without any doubt I'd say.

I'll try it out on a mate PS3 before committing to buying one just for this. it's gonna have to be something special.
