Pleased I didnt buy it. Played it this aft on a mates PS3 single player and not impressed at all. Missions were just the usual run of the mill type stuff and I didnt like the way the single player actually played, would have been better if they had put it together the way normal single player games go.
So having played for a good 5 hours last night. My first impressions are that is has potential, but it will need some work. Gameplay mechanics are okay. Some guns need a buff, some guns need a nerf. I don't like SMART (in general feels clunky). It hinders me more than helps. It doesn't add anything useful for me to the gameplay. Then again I'm only playing as medium, not light.
Reviews seem abit "meh" probably pick this up when it comes down in price/half price on steam etc
Just played it myself on PC.
Completely underwhelmed. Campaign mode is horridly implemented. Guns feel terrible.
I found Crysis 2 to be a lot better and that underwhelmed me as well.

This. I was hoping for something like Borderlands meets Team Fortress 2, but it's neither. The general mechanics of the game are poor, the graphics are poor, the guns and hits feel uneventful and the whole thing just seems boring and almost beta-esque. Bring on borderlands 2....
Posted this over in a thread at the official SD forums...
So having played extensively for a couple of days. Couple of observations:-
- Hack objectives are way too hard. I played with a good circle of friends who understand team play and supporting roles. The solution is either make it quicker to hack, slow to reverse or introduce a fade on the hack if they haven’t touched it in x seconds/minutes.
- Escort objectives are hit and miss too. I’d suggest making the hostages invisible to turrets or something like that. It needs tweaking. Again this type of objective is stacked in the defenders favour.
- SMART is only really fun playing as light. I understand the whole body type thing, but come on as medium I should be able to do most of the SMART moves, not just a limited selection
- Guns! There is not enough guns, or should I say variation in gun type. It seems like the gun selection is half hearted, and someone lost interest half way.
- Get rid of the context sensitive objectives. It’s far too buggy for my liking. I have to stand directly infront of the god damn objective for the prompt to appear. No offence, but I’m not on a fricking console. FIX IT!
- Following on from the above, on a plant objective. Try pulling away just as you are about to place your charge. Bugs galore.
- Some of the maps needs to be looked at again. I don’t mind playing a challenging game. But some maps are either stacked heavily in defenders favour or vice versa.
- Fix objective naming. Case in point. There is a level (sorry, haven’t learnt the names yet). Where you have to hack the safe to progress. If you are solider it’ll safe GUARD THE SAFE. Where as if you are Ops it’ll say HACK THE SAFE. The amount of times I’ve been chased by my own team because I’m doing the objective is hilarious. You guys need to look at the wording, and correct it.
- Sounds bugs, I’m sure you know the deal. Fix it.
- I should be able to change body type as well as change player at the command console.
- Replace the objective circle/command console circle with something less obtrusive. Reeks of console UI. There’s a g_advancedHUD lets use that huh?
That’s all I got for now, but I’m sure I’ll have more soon!
Steam stats aren't positive considering the drop in player numbers. I was thinking of getting this but it does seem like a game where you need an organised team to enjoy it, which is hard on a random public server.
Thank god for Netvars eh?...
SourceBy the Power of Netvars – Brink Gets Balance Tweaks
In addition to our on-going game updates for Brink, we’ve also been working on a bundle of balance tweaks based on the feedback we’ve had now that the game is out in the wild.
These tweaks are coming to all three versions of Brink and are being rolled out via our netvars. If netvars sound entirely foreign for you, they’re part of a system we developed for Brink to allow us to tweak various aspects of the game without requiring you to download a full game update.
Let’s have a look at what we’ve got in store, shall we?
Objectives
Hackboxes are getting a significant tweak across the board to help out attacking teams. We have drastically increased the time it takes Engineers to “de-hack”, making it easier for the attackers to actually get the hack done.
In addition to the Hackbox change, we’ve got several other objective tweaks coming, as well. For starters, we’re doubling the XP received for completing Primary Objectives in the game, so if you tackle one of them, your reward will be much greater from now on.
In addition, we’ve made the following map-specific adjustments:
- Aquarium: Elevator generator construction time decreased
- Container City: Robot health increased
- Reactor: Terminal hack time slightly increased to balance new hacking mechanic
- Resort: Gate hack time slightly increased to balance new hacking mechanic
- Security Tower: Passcode return time increased
- Security Tower: Passcode transmit time decreased
Abilities
Somewhat unsurprisingly, we’ve also been unable to keep our hands off Brink’s player abilities. There’s a single tweak coming your way here, with the Medic’s Adrenaline ability now having a shorter duration, which’ll make timing the ability right even more important.
When Will I Get These?
These changes are already live in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Brink. If you’re on the PC, you’ll be getting the entire batch of balance changes alongside the next game update.
Sigh already aimbots and wallhacks out for it, gotta wonder why ya bother playing at times.
