    Turn Based

There are a couple of turn based fantasy games I've played recently and was after some recommendations for more of the same. The 2 I played were Kings Bounty & Elven Legacy (a bit too hard). I've got Civ 4 but it seems a bit daunting and I can't get into it.

    Re: Turn Based

Wesnoth is a great fantasy turn-based multiplayer strat game. And it's FREE!

Also, try checking out something from the Total War series (eg Empire: Total War, or Medival 2: Total War). In my opinion they combine the best of both worlds - complex in-depth economic management of cities and the placements of diplomats and traders etc, with massive real-time battles.

There's even a Lord of The Rings mod for Medieval 2

    Master of Magic

It's an oldie, but a goldie. It is now an abandonware, so you'll probably need to google for it. It's ideal to play on low spec net/notebook machine and you'll probably need a DOS emulator or throttle back your machine's performance.
