My last post shows that GRID is a non-starter on the i7.

Can people recommend racing sims, current or upcoming, for the PC ? I had bought GRID as a gift and it's been disappointing.
TIA

Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Rfactor, with many, many mods. Games old so should dirt cheap but some great graphics on the mods still.

Race 07, GTR evolution, Race on. All part of the same thing really, Race on is the newest with US muscle cars, formula masters and WTCC 08. Again with some interestin mods available.

GTR 2, again, very moddable game and another older one so should be cheap.

GT legends is still very popular aswell, although one i've not got round to yet.

Sims, GTR2 and GTR, personally I prefer GTR.. not sure, I bet its the bloody same engine but perhaps I was properly hooked on to GTR hence the favouritism..
TBH, though I am also a proper sim fan... I did enjoy Shift as well (sim fans please, no rotten tomatoes), I know its an arcade racer, but it does capture bits of the visceral racing feeling that you don't get on proper sims as you're just too careful on areas..
Me want Ultrabook

TBH I'm enjoying Shift as well. Yes it has issues (I'm playing on the PS3 so I know alllllll about the bugs lol) but the feeling of racing is bloody great. Maybe one to rent before handing over your hard earned, but I'm enjoying it none the less.
In fact I came across a first last night. It was possible to actually over tune a car. 600+ hp Porsche Cayman S + Spa = many a scenery/Cayman interface.
Grand Prix 4. Whatever happened to Sir Geoff Crammond.
What the PC is missing is a Forza / Gran Turismo type game. I've just bought NFS Shift so I'm hoping that can fill the gap.
Shift is the closest we've got to a GT type game - the underlying engine is actually superb, and the cockpit view is a treat. With some modification it becomes a very good game indeed, but default AI is frustrating (perfectly mimicks 14yr old kids) Online is likewise bad, unless you have a group of friends who drive respectfully.
If you don't mind something a little more arcady (but not as arcady as Grid) then don't rule out Test Drive Unlimited - it's a bit older, but the scenery is still lovely and driving that huge selection of cars freely around Hawaii is good fun.
