Help me Hexus, you're my only hope.

Right, I'm looking for Christmas presents for the family overseas and I've had a request for some PC games. He would like some shooters (any), and he's a particular fan of Star Wars.

    Machine Spec - P4 @3.6Ghz, 3Gb RAM, 8800GT 512Mb

What can you recommend ? New or 2nd hand...

    Thanks

    Sounds terrific. Thanks for that.
    Damn !
De-listed apparently I'll look around elsewhere.
    Any other suggestions ?

EDIT: Didn't like the deep-link, got it now. In fact I've ordered it !
Still looking for any other recommended FPS. They have Doom 3, UT3, what else ?

I bought that exact pack from a Game store about a month ago on two for £15 - so might be worth a look there?

On their website it's £18 though:

Steam had a influx of star wars games, maybe a gift option if they are ok using it

I'm still trying to get them onto the net. (long story - the Ex is not keen on this new-fangled internet stuff.) It's quite difficult when you are not there in person to get it done and Aus ISP's won't accept foreign cards over the phone or web.

Well, if there's no internet then I wouldn't bother with Battlefield - complete waste of time.

As for WW2, I wouldn't be looking any further than CoD2 if that's an option. Must be very cheap now and utterly fantastic - no reason to pick W@W over CoD2 to be honest unless you've already played CoD2 to death. That was why I bought W@W at least .

There will be internet. Just not till Easter, when I can get there and sort it out.
Right CoD2 - got it. What about Wolfenstein ? The old one.

Its not bad, but COD2 is the better choice as its more cinematic and a really good story mode, and when they are on the internet people are still playing it online so its a good all rounder

Well, both of them will work - but they're both entirely different games. I would consider getting both, as CoD2 must be extremely cheap these days. If it's a choice, then I guess CoD4 would be the better option as there will be a much better online presence when the internet appears.

Even if the internet crops up in a while I'd still be loathe to recommend Battlefield by the way - it'll be a doorstop until the internet arrives, and BF2142 was rubbish while BF2's crowd slowly dwindles. For the moment, I'd say that those are both dying games. There is no singleplayer, so it leaves it fairly limited.

    LEGO star wars!

But if he must have a shooter then how about the Bioshock/Oblivion dual pack? Bioshock is an ace shooter but with some force-like abilities, and you get Oblivion thrown in for 'free' so it's easy to try, and if he ends up liking it then cool.
